ZEN16 800LR sensor status not updating

Not likely the smoking gun here, but are you on z-wave JS or legacy/zip?

I have sensor-reporting issues with my Z17 on JS, but it's flaky/incorrect statuses (not no reports at all).

Hi,

I am using your advanced driver, I have it set as a contact sensor. Right now its sitting on the bench and I am just using a jumper to short the Sw1 pins. Also correct, I am not factory resetting it, just exclude, power cycle the relay, include. It seems to work properly forever until I power cycle the relay then it is done reporting the status. I been fighting with this for 3 days, and I am consistently getting the same results.

I am using JS, and have it in LR mode, the plan was to use this to replace my existing MIMOlite that is controlling the garage door, since it has started acting a bit flaky.

Ah, very interesting... When my Z17 is on JS, my reporting issue is also when S1 is set up as Contact Sensor (oddly enough, S2 is never afflicted by this bug in the very same configuration).

For me, the S1 Contact Sensor would immediately flip it's stated position back to Open when it was (physically) closed.

The bug is not present on ZIP. On JS, it was persistent on several device-level firmwares, so I don't suspect Zooz firmware to be a factor. Although I too use Jeff's driver, the bug was persistent on the stock/native driver too. Long story, but I tested all of those scenarios using 3 different Z17s, so it's not a hardware issue.

In my case, it's 100% a reporting bug with JS itself.

I have all 3 sensor's configured as contact sensor, and all 3 of them are acting the same way. I decided to get the z16 over the z17 as I was going to run a wire out to the mailbox for a contact sensor. I guess if the Z17 does not have an issue with S2, I can pick up one of those, and use it instead. I do not want to change back to ZIP, since I was having some devices act sluggish, or just not switch on or off on the first try. Now everything seems to work better, except the new relay.

I contacted Zooz about this, and they say its a bug in there firmware, and they hope to have it fixed in the next few weeks. I am going to take my c8 non pro with me to work tomorrow, factory reset it and see if the relay wants to play nice on ZIP in the meantime.

Could be a bug in the firmware that only gets exposed by Zwave JS. Possibly something with supervision, since Zwave JS manages that behind the scenes and ZIP does not do anything with supervision.

That makes as much sense as anything... Man, I really wish I would've documented which JS release this Z1x sensor issue (and the Titan wet/high-temp, and whatever others) started with... I just assumed they all were device-firmware issues, so I lost track of time going down that rabbit-hole instead.

I know for certain these weren't issues from the get-go with JS... They popped up with one of the releases earlier this fall. Maybe the JS updates in 2.4.4 that Bobby's mentioned lately will help (sounds like staff may be dogfooding it now?) -- I'd love to get back on JS full-time again!

I just reset my old C-8 hub, and paired the relay to to it as LR, and it works fine, until the relay is reset still. I then paired it as mesh, and its doing the same thing. I guess this rules JS as the problem out. Looks like it is time to stick the relay on the shelf and wait for Zooz to release the firmware update to fix this.
