I currently have two Aeotec RGB light strips that I bought ages ago when I was still using Vera, and they continue to work perfectly with Hubitat. I am interested in buying some more, but I can't find any ready-made Z-wave versions (the Aeotecs haven't been produced for some time now). I have, however, found a lot of Zigbee ready-made RGB light strips being sold.
I realize I can buy a Z-wave RGB light strip controller, light strip and power supply and build one myself, but would rather just buy something out of the box.
So, a couple of questions for the community...
Is anyone aware of any ready-made Z-wave RGB light strips still being sold and, if so, do you have any experience with them?
Does anyone have any experience with any Zigbee RGB light strips (ready-made) that you would recommend and that work well with Hubitat?
I have a Gledapto rgbww i got from amazon. It has been working very well for a long time. It is also used several times a day. It provides light for my Pantry.
I don't think they sell the one i have anymore though as all of the controllers have been upgraded.
I am also a fan of Govee and they make wifi/bluetooth strips. Thay have a variety of abilities and include a LAN API. I am a bit biased though as i take care of the community integration here.
Agree with @mavrrick58. I have a variety of different GLEDOPTO devices with two different types of LED strip controllers. Their USB-powered RGB+CCT strip is especially nice in my opinion. I have them on USB battery packs (that still supply power while charging) so they can always be reached.
I also have a couple Govee devices... They are even better for brightness and color but I find them more difficult to control within Hubitat (as opposed to the GLEDOPTO ZigBee items, they just work well with the Hubitat). They are also much more expensive although far cheaper than Hue devices of course. I always check for them on sales.
If you have a usability issue please send me a PM so i can see if i can make it better. For me they just seem to work well, but i kno w exactly how i coded it to work.
I would always suggest comparing the prices 3 ways for govee.
Check amazon
Govees own store
Govee's savy store in the mobile app. (After you get a few devices)
I would always suggest looking for sales that happen frequently. Generally one of them will have devices on sale to lower the price sting a far amount.
Items will also go on sale on regular intervals so you may be able to just wait a few weeks and get itema cheaper as well.
There basics RGBIC strip is on sale for 25.99 doesn't seem to bad. As i recall the GLEDOPTO controller alone was frequently more then that the last time i looked.
Or this strip which has beed documented to support LAN API.
This is the equivalent zigbee one i found today on Amazon.

@rlithgow1 - I did come across the LIFX products, but as far as I can tell, they only offer wi-fi controlled strips, no z-wave or Zigbee. Do we have drivers in Hubitat for LIFX (I'm being lazy and haven't searched yet)?
DISREGARD...found that LIFX is natively supported.
Yep.... Infact @bcopeland (HE Staff and Dev) changed every light in his house out to Lifx.... They have superior color and brightness to pretty much anything out there. I use them in my table lamps.
Cool. Just ordered a couple of LIFX outdoor-rated BR30 bulbs for a patio light fixture. I currently have some Cree bulbs in it - they've always been flakey, and are not bright enough (and I've only been able to use Alexa to control them). Looking forward to giving these a try and having them controllable via Hubitat. Assuming all goes well, I'll splurge on some additional light strips as well.
These are ZLL 1.2. They and their ilk make terrible repeaters/messengers and should not be on the same mesh as ZHA devices (sensors and whatnot). They should either be put on a Hue Bridge, or another hubitat by themselves. Either way cree is horrible.
