Whats your experience with the Aeotech smart plug 7? Rewievs on Amazon are a bit mixed with
some people complaning about unstable connection.
I have quite a few and they seem to be fine.
One thing they don't like too much load.
I have the NA models and it says 15A but my pool pump trips it on in-rush currrent.
I had to use a Leviton outlet instead.
Should work for me though. I only plan to controll my TV and a HDMI splitter with them.
Yup. All the rest of mine are on TV'sand the like.
I have several hooked to things like music amps, Christmas lights, and the like. No problems here.
I had ZWave issues with mine that were bogging down my ZWave mesh. Ended up replacing them with zooz.
I have a couple (but I've had them for years now), and they've been flawless on all fronts.
I got them because they offer a lot of customization options -- for example, I use one on my wife's home office space heater... It's on a heavily loaded circuit (long story!), so I need that heater to only ever run at its medium setting.
I configured the SS7 plug to kill power when when draw is above a certain threshold (i.e. the heater tries to turn on at its highest setting). At least back when I bought them, no other switch had capability like that.
But unless I needed such a feature that no one else had, I'd first look elsewhere simply due to price -- those SS7 plugs are not cheap!
ETA -- mine are North America / USA models
Iām not sure if Zooz is avaliable here in Europe under a different name but I dont think they are. I havent found them under the Zooz brand at least.
I got them really cheap from Amazon due to a deal they had so I decided to give them a try.
HI, I got about 8 of them and they are working very stable for about eight months now. Only thing I do not like is their odd way for power reporting. Only when exceeding some threshold rather than a change in load. I did write a driver for the EU version as that is slightly different from the US one for some reason. [RELEASE] Aeotec Smart Switch Driver 7 EU version.
Cheers Rene
(and no, Zooz is not available outside the US.)
