What's the best choice for beginners?

Hello everyone,
I live in Europe, in France.
I am neither a computer scientist nor an automation specialist. Just basic knowledge (I know what an IP address is, or a logical function) and I have no passion to become one.
Also, having to search for the right driver in the jungle of Bithub or this forum puts me off.

I'm looking for products that are directly compatible with Hubitat to dim my lights, operate my adjustable sunshades and a few sensors (temperature, presence, brightness, etc.).

What do you think would be the right products to buy?

I'd like to point out that I use

  • ShellyWave-i4 buttons and ShellyWave-1PM switches with great success.
  • with a lot of difficulty Shelly-2PM
  • ShellyWaveShutter and FibaroDimmer2 without any success.

Thanks for your feedback

Best approach for finding compatible devices...

  1. Click "Documentation"

  1. Search "Compatible"

  2. Review the list of compatible devices

Thank you for your answer.
Well, I used that list an bought Fibaro Dimmer 2… but impossible to make it work and many people seem to have issues with it on this forum.

I realy need your feedback in real life, not a list

Unless you list specific devices that you're having problems with, or types of devices you need, hard to give you any real world suggestions.

Look at the topics in this section below...many device types covered, and HE forum users favorites are listed.

Also...forum use 101 is to always to search the forum for devices you are going to buy to look for those real-world results you want.

I usel these produts

thank you, I will have a look

You should be looking at this topic if you aren't already:

And if your devices are related/included, asking questions in that topic is the best approach. Happy hunting.

it's not a done deal…

Have you tried using Hubitat Package Manager? No copying of Github code needed, it finds the code and installs it for you, all you need are search terms to find them.

I have about 20 fitted with no issues. The only issue I know of and have experienced is that to include them without S0 security (preferred), a secondary controller needs to be used which is not user friendly.

If you're in the EU Vesternet do their own range of Z Wave dimmers that are compatible. As they're newer S2 compatible devices they can easily be included without security and without the need of a secondary controller (unlike the Fibaro Dimmer 2)

Phillips Hue, cher mais bon. Sonoff, bon marché et joyeux. Zemismart, ils fonctionnent.

:upside_down_face:

I do my hunting in Australia.

Hello.
Thank you for your advice.
I've just bought one to test. I'll be in touch.

If you're starting from scratch, I'd say go Z-Wave long range.
Devices communicate directly to hub.
No mesh to screw things up.

LR is currently only available on the United States ZW frequency band.

Although LR expansion into Europe and other regions is anticipated, I haven't seen any timelines for it yet.

I guess I didn't read the article, lol:

Per that link, It sounds like the spec for Europe is approved in early 2024, I'm not aware of any products actually being in existence for Europe, just yet.

That said, I'll be honest in that I didn't really look all that hard.

Hello
