I have been running my C8 since they were released and lately it’s being struggling and needing reboots fairly regularly. It’s all my fault as I have added lots of devices and integrations. I have my old C7 in a drawer and thought that may be the answer. So how do I choose what I should move on to the C7?
Do I move the largest - % of busy or State size or Total events or some other factors?

I would focus on the integrations, as in move them.
I agree with the above. I have all my cloud/lan integrations on a separate hub.
All pistons and local devices on another hub with both hubs meshed together so they are all available on both hubs.
Is there a clean way to move integrations and/or automations to a second hub without breaking things that depend upon them? I’m having similar issues but don’t want to screw up what is working.
are you in the beta program? My experience is that the new 2.5.0.158 has done a good job of freeing up memory. If you're not in beta, the full release is probably not far away.
As for your question, first move all LAN integrations you might have. If you want a very detailed look at what is chewing up resources, do load the "Hub Diagnostics" app. It's absolutely fantastic at identifying resource hogs.
I have been in the same boat with my C8 for months now. I finally just bought a C8 Pro. While I have a spare C8 and a C7, I just have no interest in splitting things between hubs. I just want one hub that runs all. For me, splitting load between hubs violates the KISS method, when the Pro will solve my issues in a simple way. If there was no Pro to upgrade to, I guess I would need to split off some load to another hub, but I do have the Pro option.
Still, it has been almost a month since I got the Pro and I have not even plugged in the Pro yet, as every time I plan a time for the migration, something comes up. I will get there eventually. Hub load severe and low memory warnings come and go, I've been rebooting about every two weeks when one of those warnings do not go away on its own.
I am getting tired of living on the edge, even though everything works fine, so I have yet another plan to migrate this weekend, maybe.
I have a C-7 that exclusively runs my integrations/automations, and then all of my devices are in on the C-8 Pro (Z-Wave, Zigbee, Wifi, Matter). Then you utilize hub mesh to pass the devices over to the C-7 device. It’s worked flawlessly for me and has been incredibly fast too. I can’t even tell that there’s two hubs involved.
I didn’t have a reason for structuring it this way outside of, i bought a C8 Pro cause i wanted to upgrade, but i did it based on what i saw people discussing and so far it has been a great decision.
Back in the day, i had a C4 and it would bog down under integration/automation load but i did the same setup i mentioned above with a C7 and it fixed that situation for me. So i’ve had two ever since. Figure worst case, i always have a backup.
I would move my automations to the C7 and keep my radio devices on the C8. This is what I did several years back and I’m still happy with the results. (Though I did update the hubs since then…)
Not that I’m aware. You could export the rules/apps from the old hub, import them to the new one after you’ve meshed all your devices. The import tool will ask to link to the new devices, so it will be clean, but time consuming. It will get complicated if you have rules that link to other rules I think (not something I tried).
