Vertilux Shades

Continuing the discussion from Vertilux Blinds compatibility:

Background:
I bought HE to replace my SmartThings Hub as they've gone in the wrong direction IMO. Therefore, I'm new here, so I apologize if there are some noob questions. I already have the VTI Re-lion Hub for my Vertilux Outdoor shades.

What does "...not directly compatible with HE" mean in the post above? Does that mean HE hasn't integrated it yet, or it will never be? Or that I need some intermediary to make it work?

Thanks in advance!

The linked post references an online and closed API, so direct integration is not going to be available. However that post also has a reply that states:

" Locally it runs 433.92 MHz and IR in the range 20~60 KHzd. So not directly compatible with HE."

The reference to 433.92 indicates to me the shades have an RF remote. Do you have that?
If so, you can do what many of us do to integrate our motorized shades into HE, which is go through another local hub, such a Broadlink or Bond to pass commands to the shades.

Yep. It is compatible with Alexa, etc. but the commands are lacking. Of course it has it's own app, but I was hoping to consolidate as much as possible in HE.

I'm interested in the other local hub solution. I'll research, but if you have any guidance I'm open to a little nudge!

Thanks for the response too!

How specifically are your shades communicating with Alexa? Is there an integration with the Vertilux online app to Alexa? Probaly since Alexa itself requires an internet connection.

What protocol does the VTI Re-Lion Hub use?
ETA: Just looked up the VTI Re-Lion Hub - it looks like the communication between the shades and the hub might be 2 way, and is via 433.92 RF. Then the Hub communicates to the Vertilux cloud via 2.4 GHz wifi.

Most Hubitat users have a preference for local control.

Do you have a local remote that you can control the shades with? If so look on the back of it and see if the remote indicates the RF frequency on which it communicates. Should e 433.92 but maybe not.

I’m VERY new to this… one thing I like is the local control aspect. I’ve never messed with a Broadlink or Bond hub before, but I’m fairly technical.

Remote doesn't say anywhere that I can get to without taking it apart. However, like you stated the spec says it's 433.92 RF. (I'm sure this is what you saw too)

So, what does mean from an automation/HE integration standpoint?
