Unable to connect ANY devices

I have about a dozen various light switches and door locks that were on a Samsung Smart Things system, but the smart things hubs went down so I purchased the Hubitat.

The basic setup went well, connected to ethernet, installed the app, discovered the hub, it updated the firmware, light is green. That was the end of any success. I performed the factory reset/exclusion procedure on each with confirmation of success first, I have attempted to connect several different devices with no success. They are in range of the hub, using the Hubitat app on my iPhone. I have attempted repeatedly to connect, and 2 of them are EvaLogik dimmers <1yr old. The procedure is simple and straightforward, but nothing connects.

When I click on Connect to Hub, what I get is " we could not verify the certificate: reason = untrusted"

I have watched a number of the tutorial videos, and been searching through the community forum. Some of the videos show a slick-looking dashboard with all kinds of functions to play with, I can't find my way to anything like it on my desktop, and when I select Dashboard on the mobile app, it just spins away on a blank screen forever with no results.

Even this forum, where I see a number of screenshots by various users, does not allow me to upload a screenshot, even though there is a button for doing that.

What am I missing here? I am no techno-guru, but I'm not exactly a newbie either. My SmartThings setup worked beautifully for years, right up until it didn't. This device & app are making me feel really stupid. If I can't get past the easy stuff, how will I ever get any kind of actual automation going? Maybe I should just return the hub.

Where exactly are you clicking “Connect to Hub”? Is this in the Hubitat Mobile Phone app on your smartphone/tablet?

For now, just open up a web browser on your PC, Mac, or Smartphone. Browse to https://findmyhub.hubitat.com/ and you should see your Hubitat Hub. Click on connect to hub. On the left hand side, you should see DEVICES. Click on this, and the at the top, click ADD DEVICE. This is the easiest way to get started with adding devices to the hub.

NOTE: If you’re attempting to use Z-Wave Smart Start, the you will need to use the Hubitat Mobile App on your phone.

I have tried on both smartphone and PC. When I click on "Connect to Hub" on PC, I get the message
" we could not verify the certificate: reason = untrusted"
On the Smartphone, it takes me to the "Add Devices" page no problem, it's just that nothing I do with any of the devices will allow them to be discovered or included. I've tried every which way such as selecting from a list, by manufacturer, and manual inclusion. The only device (out of several I have tried repeatedly) the hub has seen after hours of trying is the smartphone itself. I have followed all the procedures to the letter multiple times with multiple devices, you would think I would get lucky and get at least one of them to be discovered. Is there a way to troubleshoot or just completely reset?

Tagging @bobbyD from the Hubitat Support Team. Hopefully he is familiar with the error you’re seeing.

Did you enable HTTPS (encrypted connection) support on the Hub?

If you have the IP address of the hub, simply browse to http://your.hub.ip.here - do you still get the 'untrusted' message?

What web browser on your computer are you using? Google Chrome and MS Edge are both known to work well when connecting to the hub.

Did you leave the hub's networking with default DHCP settings?

What type of home networking system are you using? Are you phone and computer on the same VLAN as the Hubitat Hub?

Were you ever able to Register the Hubitat Hub with Hubitat's cloud server? This is found at https://my.hubitat.com

Yes I still get the "untrusted" message. Using Chrome, I did not change any of the hub settings, everything is on the same network, the hub is registered and shows up on the PC with all details. Everything is close to the router with a strong signal.

I am replying through the owners group and it still does not allow me to upload images. It does not allow me to quote, even though both of these functions are included in the interface.

You need to add yourself to the "Hubitat Owners" group in order to post images.

Looks like you are still not a member.

Please JOIN this group - Groups - Hubitat

Afterwards, please post an image of what you're seeing. As it is difficult to understand exactly what it going on.

I am a member, I joined yesterday, everything I see at my end shows I am a member including when I performed a self-search. I even see the red box that says LEAVE like in your screenshot. Every reply I am making is through the owner's group while logged in. I have multiple screenshots I have been trying to post, but when I upload them, it just shows code for a link (although it is not actually a link) and the forum tells me I cannot post links.

Jeez, I built & fly my own aircraft including creating multi-pin connectors for the radio, transponder, intercom, and altitude encoder, from scratch. I use all kinds of 3D software, and am on multiple user forums. None of them have ever given me the kind of problems I am having with this device & software.

It now shows you as a member of the Owners group.

Hopefully, refreshing your browser will allow you to post images. To post an image from a PC, I simply COPY the image (like from the Windows Snipping Tool) and the PASTE it into this edit window. On the right hand side of my screen, is the preview window which should show your actual image, once it finishes uploading. On the Edit side (left side) all you will see is a funky link that looks like

It sounds like Chrome is trying to open the web interface as https instead of http.

Do you see any kind of errors? You shouldn't be restricted since you joined the owners group. This might also be a browser-based restriction.

Let me attempt this again.

When I click on "connect to Hub" on PC, I get the "not trusted" message.

May I suggest to update the Chrome browser, if not running the latest version (Version 136.0.7103.93)? Alternatively, can you try logging in using the incognito mode to see if that makes a difference. That is your browser being adversarial instead of helpful. May have to get into its settings and command it to back off on its security standards at least for the Hub. Hubitat's cert was issued for 10 years which some cert checkers choke on. Also the browser may be discriminating against http only hosts. Turn that off if you can so you can connect to http://

OK tried that, still no luck.
https

As others have already suggested, remove the "s" in your "https://..." above.

OK just to prove how stupid I am, how do I find the actual desktop app? The closest thing I can find to something that actually does anything on my PC is this, but when I click on ADD DEVICE it only gives instructions on how to add a device, but no way to actually add a device. Is there a download for a desktop app that does anything functional?

I see in the tutorials people using a cool-looking app with all kinds of functions. There must be a download somewhere.

There's not a desktop app -- you simply access the hub directly on your local network.

Assuming this is the correct IP address for your hub, just try entering this in your browser address bar:

http://10.0.0.176

Looking around for that phrase as it is not one that I can get to generate from the hub and see a couple of possibilities, but almost all cite the error as coming from BitDefender or another Third Pary Anti-Virus product. Therefore, maybe try these steps:

 • pause your AV
 • purge your browser cache
 • close the browser
 • reopen the browser in incognito mode and then try accessing the hub with http
