I have been using tile builder for tiles on my hub for a few months now. No issue. I have a battery monitoring tile and an activity monitoring tile. Both are then shown in a dashboard so that I can see how some of my devices batteries are lasting and when the last time they were active was. This worked until Monday. The hub is remote so I am accessing the dashboard from web cloud link. Now when I try to access the dashboard, the tiles are just blank. I did update them to add more devices recently, but I thought it worked once after that and then stopped. Hub is a C-7 running 2.3.9.196.
Any thoughts? Thank you
It sounds like the tiles have now gone beyond the 1024 character limit. Check them in tile builder. It will tell you there size and give options to "scrub" it to reduce that.
That did fix it. I removed the footer and made it just under the required size of 1024. The notes state the size limit is much larger than that (almost 4 times). Thank you for the help.
You're welcome. The 1024 limit is a limitation of the dashboard itself, not tile builder. It has been discussed at great length in other threads and the tile builder thread.
I think all the Tile Builder modules now support cloud endpoints.
Under publishing it shows the policy for handling the oversized tiles (< 1,024 bytes.)
If it is set to File Manager a tile that is larger than 1,024 will be stored on the Hub as a file but will only be available locally.
If it is set to Cloud Endpoint then you will access that tile through the cloud service and can access it remotely even when you are not on the same network.
It sounds like you could benefit from using the Cloud Endpoint as that would let you have larger tiles that you can still access remotely. Try it out, you can always switch it back.
This fixed the exact same problem I had weeks ago.
I had a tile that went over 1024, for some reason, while I was out of town.
Changed to Cloud and it functions again thanks to Gary's guidance on that dropdown.
Hello Gary,
Thank you for the quick reply. I changed it and now the tile just shows "nullinvalid_token". Maybe I need to reload the tile in the dashboard.
This drove me nuts in the beginning. I was having that issue. A tile would display and then it wouldn't and then it would. It was a tile for motion sensors and I had different formatting for when the detectors went active. It was fine until I think 4 or more were active. This would push the tile past the 1024.
