Thinking about switching from Wink

@scotnemily

I would go with @oldcomputerwiz suggestions. The last time they did a Hubitat Live! (a couple weeks ago), the Hubitat team recommended using the simpler apps for all those automations that were fully covered by the simpler apps (SA, GS, ML, TS).

If you can find one it will be on eBay. They were discontinued awhile ago.

You can setup conditions in Rule Machine. In this case you would use a simple conditional. So your final rule would be something like:

Trigger:
Door is unlocked

Actions:
IF (Between sunset AND sunrise): On; Light1, Light2, etc.

But will he need RM for the lock?

If you can't and really want one, I have three unopened ones that I'm not using. PM me if you're interested. They've been in my spare drawer for 5 years .....

Probably so. You're right.

Ok I will look again. I did find it under SA.

Another thing that I just noticed. on my iphone app, it says out of geofence. When I originally checked my hub location it had me about 1/2 mile away. I set it to my actual location, but on the iphone app it shows it is still the wrong location. if I click settings and select my hub, then it shows it is in the correct location. however i still show the out of geofence.

So presence detection is a complicated issue that varies dramatically from phone to phone (and between cell carriers). The standard recommendation is to use an app that multiplexes presence detection (several such apps are available)

However, @ogiewon and @oldcomputerwiz have noted that Life360 seems to work by itself fairly reliably.

Tagging them for their input.

In the Hubitat App on the iPhone, drag the Pin to your home's location. That will center the geofence circle on your residence.

In around 14-15 days, I'll have all sorts of iPhone questions. My first ever iPhone comes in then .....

I tried that but it would not let me move it that way. I will try again, maybe I did it wrong.

That was it, I just had to hold on the pin for a few seconds before trying to drag it. thanks!

I am actually migrating my wife old iPhone 7 to her new iPhone SE as I type this...

Exactly the model I got. Seemed like an incredibly good deal for the quality of hardware. And coincidentally, my current phone (original Google Pixel) turns out to have something wrong with the screen controller. I was hoping it was just a battery, but 3.5 years of use is reasonable.

We have sometimes found that if we were not detected when we came home, then we have to leave the geofence and come back. This is not usually a problem but, will sometimes occur if we enter and leave and enter the geofence too quickly. Such as doing a pointless drive around the neighborhood. This occurred in Smartthings too. I have not extensively tested HE presence to see if it Exhibits the same behavior.

Cool I hope it works tonight.

Back to the light switch issue. I just tried the physical switch again. it still does not turn on or off the 4 associated lights like it does from the dashboard or the device page.

I am wondering if it has something to do with the bulbs are showing as dimmers in my group and not as lights.

I don't think it works that way. A group allows you to control all the bulbs from the HE all at once. It won't do anything with a physical switch. For that you will probably want to use mirror.

If I'm incorrect on this someone correct me but that's how I understood groups to work.

I have it set in SA and a group set. It will majorly suck if this can not detect a on off state of a smart switch with the physical button press...

What are you trying to do? Show is your rule.

one min. I am trying to set a rule (i might have it now) so when the go control z wave switch is turned on either by the app or the physical switch, 4 bulbs in the basement turn on. if the switch is turned off either by the app or the press of the button, the lights go off.

Sounds like you want to use the mirror app...
