The Clouds not all bad😉

So this is the first Wled project that ive done.
8m2 cloud with 1200leds and when it arrives sound reactive.

Im pretty happy with it integrated with Hubitat ok needed a work around as off would only turn off one segment, so ive just made a preset that has everything turned off.

Its not quite finished as i ran out of fluffy stuff and the mic needs to arrive, but other than that im pretty happy with it

That deserves more than just me clicking "Like". Holy bleep! That is cool!!!!!! What did you use for clouds?

EDIT: Here is a challenge that I don't know if WLED could do or would require something more robust. During day, have the bulk of the LEDs the light blue shown in your picture but then program a small group of them to be yellow to match current sun location and have that slowly move across ceiling to match reality. :grinning: The easiest method would probably add a 2nd strip for that but then you wouldn't be able to change the route where the sun is in sky based on time of year :grinning: Bonus points for tracking the moon's position at night.

This was my first time ive played with wled so not sure what else you can achieve with it.
Ive got a mic to add to get it t be reactive with sound

The cloud is made from hollow fill fiber aka teddy bear stuffing

You can split the strips within wled.

And, as already expressed.... Awesome job.

need to simulate a thunderstorm now with lightening strikes.

Would that just be dangling exposed A/C wiring?

Nope thats the mic wire :+1: not connected at either end.

What like this?

How much does this cost and where did you get it? What's controling it?

Wled is controlling it on a esp32.

Im no expert i stole the idea from @djh_wolf i just went alittle bigger.

Cost not 100% sure as i bought lots enough to do several project's.

But this cloud uses

15x A1 foam boards £40

1 pack of [command strip things](32-Pairs(64 Strips) Medium Picture Hanging Strips Heavy Duty, Jellysub Hook and Loop Tape Damage Free, Water-Resistant Adhesive Strips for Picutre Frame Hanging (Medium) https://amzn.eu/d/exXveQf) £13

1 x [esp32](AZDelivery 3 x ESP32-DevKitC NodeMCU WiFi WLAN CP2102 ESP32-WROOM-32D IoT 2-In-1 Microcontroller Bluetooth Module Development Board compatible with Arduino including E-Book! https://amzn.eu/d/9anjTAT) £10

1 x [max4466 mic](DollaTek 3Pcs Electret Microphone Amplifier MAX4466 Module Adjustable Gain Blue Breakout Board for Arduino https://amzn.eu/d/66MZ757) £3

1x 5v 40amp power supply(https://amzn.eu/d/9rqPvtg) £21

5kg of hollow fibre fill £20
Ive order 2kg more as 5kg wasnt quite enough.

Also need a bit of power cable, some connectors, and spray glue x 3 cans im sure theres a couple of other bits i think its was about £180 and a couple of days to get it up.

Alot of information on Drzzs youtube channel

So you have stuck the lights on the board or behind the board? Can't see them from the photos so there really well hidden. Then glued the fluff to that?

I stick the boards to the ceiling using the command strips, hoping that when its time to remove there will be minimal damage to the ceiling

I then stuck the leds to the board.

Then did the wiring lucky for me i live in a bungalow so i took all the power from the loft.

Then stuck the cloud to the board using spray glue

Now you need to pair this with white noise tracks on alexa or google..

you can hope :joy: not convinced about that one though.

It really effective the videos look like there is strip on every inch of the board, that's why I was was confused. Makes sense now and looks great.

@garyburchell , really cool video. Need to combine the lighting effects with some ceiling speakers. Although it could really mess up your kids (“This is God. . .(thunderstorm). . . Clean up your room. . . Or else!”) :joy: :scream:

I might put one in to try that any thing that can get him to tidy up can only be a good thing

hi,

Nice project... just like I want something like that...
BUT :stuck_out_tongue:
Wled is wifi based and that's the part i don't like (wifi cluttering etc). Is there a Zigbee version possible? (or Zwave for others since my house has 0 Zwave devices and +50 zigbee)
I would love the animation like real lightning clouds... even maybe triggerd by a mic.

I just don't seem to find Zigbee light strips with that kind options around here...
To be clear, 'here' is Belgium, Amazone is hardly a thing unless you are talking about the forrest and Alexa doesn't even know our lang :stuck_out_tongue:

decent router = zero wifi issues.

The majority of my smarthome devices are wifi.

extremely cost-effective.
