Sonoff Zigbee Smart Water Valve

@chad.andrews
You can try the new update :

@chrisbvt I think that the Sonoff SWV valve consumes power only during opening or closing — once it reaches the desired position, it draws no power except for the minimal standby usage of the Zigbee radio..

All battery-powered valves should be using Latching Solenoids / Latching Valves.

Could be, I have never taken apart a Sonoff valve specifically, but other smart garden valve devices I have opened, that run on AA batteries, use a valve with an energized coil that opens the valve using a small pin that pushes a membrane. They don't seem to last more than three years for me and I have not had much luck fixing them when they die. Either a replacement membrane is needed, or the coils get weak, but there are really no replacement parts available to fix them.

I'm thinking that using valve turners outside may be a better option than using the smart garden valves now, just for longevity.

I just actuated a spare sonoff valve, the water come out and I then pulled the battery pack. The valve stayed open without any power.
