Just pruchased 2 of these listed as supported compatible devices.
They pair 100% of the time, but that's all they do. Looking at the live log, nothing is shown when button is pushed. Using C7 Hub with ver: 2.4.2.143 platform. Distance is not an issue as I'm standing <10ft from the hub when pairing. I have paired and unpaired multiple times with the exact same results. Also, they show up on the device map...they just don't do anything. They are assigned the SONOFF zigbee button controller driver when paired. I have a couple other zigbee devices that are working reliably.
There are many Zigbee battery operated devices (commonly, Tuya-based designs) that do not completely pair the first time (or few times). I have 2 of these buttons and they have paired with a C-8 Pro hub.
Hey John_Land -
Thanks for the quick response to my "button" issue.
I was all excited early this morning to try your "Voodoo" process for pairing problematic devices to Hubitat. Unfortunately, I hit the proverbial brick wall early at step 2. On my hub (C7), there is no "Rebuild Network" button to press. Here's what I see from your step 2.
The other steps in your suggestion I've done numerous times successfully but not changing outcome. Anyway, I pissed more time on this (about 2 days) than I ever thought was necessary. Then I started picking up on some other things in your response.
Hub you're using is a C8, mine is C7... Don't know if you might have different options than I have
SONOFF SNZB-01P is Zigbee 3.0. Hubitat C7 does not support Zigbee 3.0 on the hardware level, but C8 does. Some devices are smart enough to downstep to earlier versions of Zigbee. Does SONOFF?... don't know.
I tried everything on Hubitat, including from Settings->Diagnostics->resetting Zigbee Radio and ultimately, the big hammer: Settings->Diagnostics->Soft Reset. Since I only have a few Zigbee devices, this didn't hurt too bad. Nothing worked.
Sanity check... I dug out my old Samsung Smartthings hub to see if I could pair the button. Bingo!!!...About 3 minutes and it was up and running, working great.
So still perplexed.
Maybe this device isn't compatible with the C7 hub or marginally compatible, perhaps explaining why users on this forum had to resort to all kind of creative tricks to get their device to work.
Maybe the driver needs an update
Most peculiar is the button pairs on my C7 and sends back battery status. It just doesn't respond to button presses (minor problem). Driver problem?
Not a driver, just an incomplete pairing. Perhaps there is a better method, but I just keep pairing them close to the hub until they start sending events. I've never kept records or anything, but I don't think I've had any Sonoff device take more than 10-12 re-pairs before they worked. The good news is that when it finally pairs, it should be solid from then on.
Again, this is a pairing issue, not a 'no rule' issue. When these Sonoff devices don't pair correctly, they never send the hub the event that would cause a rule to fire. Even if the OP had a rule ready to go, the hub would never fire it.
I am using them and they work fine maybe you haven't loaded it as a button controller yet and a function for a button. because if it doesn't have a job it doesn't need to talk to the hub.
Hey guys,
Finally managed to pair the SNZB01P button.
First, thanks to all who responded with their insights and suggestions...it was all valuable information.
That said, I still couldn't pair the buttons. I went through a lot of gymnastics with no luck.
I upgraded to a C8 hub (was going to do that anyway) and after a "not as smooth as I would like" migration, after everything was up and running, I thought I would try one last time to pair the SONOFF buttons. No luck. At the risk of committing suicide with all the work that was done in the migration, I executed a "rebuild network". This was suggested in one of the responses to my original post, but was not an option on the C7 hub. After performing the rebuild, I paired one of the buttons, went to the live log and pressed the button. I couldn't believe what I saw...it was working. Assuming lightning never strikes twice in the same spot, I paired the second button, and it too came to life.
Thanks all for your suggestions, which without, I would probably still be scratching my head.
