Beware of the doghouse!

Automations to run it a few more times until it's ACTUALLY full and not just SORTA full.

Here you go. This has been working reliably for a long time.

Mine has been pretty accurate...

I have also found that because of the way the globe spins, it tends to pile up on the left side of the opening, which is where the sensor is. I have found I can "shake it down" get another day before I must change it out. For litter Robot5, they should consider having it alternate which direction it spins, so it evenly distributes waste in the drawer.

Overall, mine is reasonably accurate. We had a cat that was in Kidney failure (didn't know it at the time), but he was peeing so much the bot couldn't keep up. (realized this after we had to put him to sleep), since then with three cats we are going between two to three days between having to empty the litter drawer. I really need to empty it out and do a deep clean of the globe. That is the only dray back I have seen with these bots.

Yep that was what sent me down this road. I just haven't implemented it yet..

It's warmer out so I intend to do this soon, but I'm not happy about it. I need to resist the urge to use the pressure washer... back splash... cringe

I usually use Simple Green. Occasionally I will use a product called RESCUE. This is essentially a 2X condensed H2O2 product. It Is used in veterinary clinics and shelters to clean and sterilize. works well, but not exactly cheap. $75/gallon. We had some left after a bout with ring worm with a litter of puppies we fostered. The rescue we were fostering for gave us a gallon of it. It works REALLY well, But it’s not cheap. The only other thing that is a REALLY PIA is taking it apart to get a piece of litter stuck in the pinch sensor. theres a bad design flaw there.

And the cats tolerate the smell of these cleaning products? Mine won’t go in the Litter Robot if I use cleaning products; I just use a wet rag.

I imagine the H2O2 is odorless, but yeah, simple green might be a bit much for my cats.

They don't seem to mind Simple Green. I use simple green for ALOT of cleaning, so it may just be that they are used to it. I do let it Air out a bit before I put it all back together., 15-20 minutes. The Rescue is near odorless. If I had to describe it, it would be a slight waxy smell. Like an unscented candle.

It's been awhile since I posted in her so I thought I'd share an update.

I am still running Home Assistant on a Pi3B+. So far, I have set up presence sensing with BLE Beacons for my family. This has been working great!

I have also recently set up ESPHome on it to run the esphome-econet integration for my Rheem water heater. A fully Hubitat-native integration is now also available but for now I've chosen to stick with the HA integration (mostly to give HA something to do...)

I used to have a bullet proof ZigBee network with only Aqara and IKEA devices on it, but since I've started experimenting with Tuya things and mmWave radars, I've been having problems with my ZigBee network. I am considering moving my entire ZigBee network over to HA using Z2MQTT but I haven't given it the go yet...

There's a cloud integration for HA available from my power company that shows my energy consumption, so I've added thatnrecently and that's a cool thing to have.

All in all, I have decided that HA does have a place in my ecosystem, at least for now..

The point of a smart home is not to turn off a light by having to manually turn off a light.
