Schlage BE469ZP - Touchpad Randomly Stops Working

Hi - I have three Schlage BE496ZP deadbolts, all connected to my Hubitat C-8.

I keep running into a weird problem where the touchpad on the deadbolts will randomly stop working. No amount of presses on the touchpad will cause it to light up or respond.

However, the deadbolts still work fine with Hubitat when the touchpads are failing - For example, I can use the Hubitat dashboard to electronically open/close the locks. Usually after I send a command to the lock from the Hubitat, the touchpad will work again ... until it randomly fails again later. The deadbolts also show the proper status on the dashboard, so they are communicating with the C-8.

Since commands from the C-8 seems to make the deadbolts "wake up", it also makes me wonder if commands from the C-8 could also be making the deadbolts fail in some manner.

Has anybody else seen this issue with the Schlage BE469 keypad deadbolts?

Not seeing this with my C-8 and two BE469ZP.

Is it possibly an issue with old (non-updatable) lock firmware? Mine are 0.11.0 and 0.10.9, have never seen this.

I had this issue. Manufacturer blamed it on a bad batch of boards. They sent me a completely new lock set without asking for the old set

What you described is Exactly what i was experiencing. How old is your schlage? Mine is from 2023 when we replaced our front door to a new fiberglass one.

I can't imagine these locks with bad circuit boards still floating around out there in 2025

They are all brand new, at least I got them all from Amazon within the last month.

How do I find out the lock firmware version(s)?

It's on a sticker on the door side of the lock, with the lock codes.

I have experienced this problem with a lock purchased and installed in January 2024. But have not had the problem recently. Last time it happened, I tapped on the Schlage logo at the top of keypad several times and then the keypad started working.

RATS. I was hoping they had gotten better. Strangely enough I posted this earlier today. Latest scoop on Z-Wave or Zigbee Door locks

And more info: It has nothing to do with the firmware. It's a hardware issue. Schlage is really good at honoring their warranty. But WAF suffers every time it happens.

I have been replacing my three Schlage Z-Wave Locks on an almost weekly basis, trying to get ones where the touchpad doesn't lock up. So far, they have all had issues. I just received new Schlage BE469 models from Home Depot yesterday. While I really liked the new more-visible white numbers on touchpad, the touchpad has locked up three times now since it was installed yesterday evening. I will be returning the Home Depot ones today.

I had 10 years of good, flawless use from my previous Schlage BE468 deadbolts, but now I have to give up on Schlage, Apparently they are producing total junk now.
