[RELEASE] Zooz Garage Door Opener

Don't know. Still not doing it this morning. Will keep an eye on it. Although, changing restoration state to all off isn't a bad thing, I would think.

Things are working great, but I've only used the Simple Automation App so far, and that requires the controlled device to be a switch or light. Do I have to get into Rule Machine to control the doors? I tried using the relays themselves, did not get good results (likely because of the relay settings required by the App), and would like to stay with the Zooz app.

Thanks.

Well, my first foray into Rule Machine wasn't too bad.
Although the rule doesn't seem to work.
The door fails to open, even though it tries.
I wonder if it isn't because of the nag screen: "are you sure you want to do this?"

Edit: I got it working but don't exactly know how.
I noticed that my MotoZ2 also goes to sleep with as many anti-sleep settings in wifi that I could set. I also noticed that it doesn't seem to sleep when plugged in. I know some cars use Android auto, (my wife's Subaru), and that requires plugging in the phone. So, if you're gonna plug it in all the time anyway, this might be nice. If not, pushing the remote button is easier.

Yes, you can. I use all of those with mine. You can even disable the wall button from within the device on HE.

All you need to do is select the "Control HSM, Garage Doors...' action, choose whether you want to open or close it, and then select the virtual door device that was created by the app.

Just make sure you either use the auto reset feature in the app or the device and not both.

If you're using that garage door mode setting on the device and having reliability issues you should set it to momentary and use the auto off setting to turn it off after 2 seconds. That's basically all that garage door setting on the device does except it doesn't use a long enough delay which can cause reliability issues.

Hey, thanks. That's what I do with my other Zen16 on the WaterCop Classic, only it has two momentary push buttons (on and off). Now I'm messing with presence sensing, but that's for another thread.

@techbill
I just intalled 2 Chamberlain GDO. Cheap ones. Just has a push button wall switch. When I touch the 2 wires together nothing happens so I'm assuming it a digital signal. You mentioned a module to connect between the Zen16 and opener. What module would I need? How is this wired?

@aaiyar
Can you share were you soldered the wires in the remote? I have the same issue and trying to find a work around.

Tagging @trihokie85 to answer @basic261's question.

I don't have a picture of the soldered board unfortunately. I did find this picture online. Flip the board over and try jumping the leads that connect to the programmed button. You will only need to jump two leads. Once you find the right ones solder a wire to each pin and connect either wire to the relay. liftmaster-893max-3-button-visor-remote-control-garage-door-opener-158|500x500

I can also say this app, zooz relay and SmartThings multi sensor in tilt mode has worked flawlessly since I installed. I have my garage lights flash as a warning when the relay is activated. I tried MyQ and Nexx as plug and play solutions and constantly had weird sensor issues and would ge wifi drop outs every few months that caused a frustrating repairing process. This system just works! Also since it's a virtual switch in hubitat it's really easy to incorporate in rules.

@basic261. sorry was busy for last few days ...

I got the module from https://www.creativeaccesssolutions.com/ but if you have a certain garage door opener .. there is a cheaper push button module that was posted by someone else .. Let me see if I can find that link

@basic261. Here the other one from an another thread

Just be sure to check your programming button to get the right module for it.

I went with the Garadget button. Got it in yesterday and works perfect. My Chamberlain (MyQ) is now automated through Hubitat.

Awesome. Glad you got it sorted

The morning, while trying to track down slowness in my system, I got the idea of turning off breakers here and there to see if it had any effect. One of these breakers was the garage sub panel which powers the Zooz relay.

So, as my wife is leaving the house, she tells me "all the garage doors are open". Well that sucks. I cycled the breaker again, and yes, that was the cause.

I went into the Zooz relay device and changed On/Off Status Recovery After Power Failure from Default (previous status), to All Relays Off. That fixed it.

I should've taken my own previous observation seriously.

Anyway, maybe someone else would like to duplicate these findings, and maybe @agnes.zooz or @krlaframboise would be interested.

Do you happen to have the log for the relays showing their status just before you turned the power off to the circuit?

I couldn't really tell for sure, so I thought I'd replicate it. Naturally, I couldn't, lol. They wouldn't open like they did before when I cycled the garage breaker. I don't know why, but I'm setting mine to "off" anyway.

Here's a copy of all the logs from this morning:

And what time did you turn the breaker off?

Looking at just one door's logs, below.
I think the garage subpanel got breaker was opened at 08:21:56.199 am.
Then, my wife told me about it, and I closed the doors at 08:29:29.985 am.
I think I tripped the breaker again, to test, at 08:31:20.556 am.
The rest is testing.
The recreation of this after the fact is, of course, suspect, and I couldn't recreate it.

I'm still having the relay's set to off after a power outage.
