Finally got my 30+ Inovelli devices updated. Out of all of them 4 gave me issues with the updating.
I had 3 Inovelli Red Switches that would hang as soon as it got the command to start sending the firmware. The only way to bring them back to life was to airgap them. I don't know what made these 3 different to all of the others but they just would not start. Here's how I got around it in case anybody else runs into it.
Change the driver to the firmware updater driver.
Ensure the switch is responding by clicking on Get Version Report.
Airgap the switch.
Put in the URL and click on Update Firmware
When it says to wake up the sleepy device, push in the airgap switch, let it go to the next step and then pull the airgap switch out again.
When it gets to the step where its waiting on the device again, push in the airgap switch and the firmware will start to upload.
I had to do these steps exactly this way on those 3 switches and they all finished the update.
Thanks again to @bcopeland for making this much easier than having to exclude and rejoin the devices.
Hi. Just wanted to say thanks to @bcopeland for developing this. I've updated all my Innovelli switches and now I'm poking around to see what other devices/firmwares I can do. Great job!
The tickets are actually submitted right away but the confirmation page takes forever to load. The support portal provider is trying to fix this for us, it's been almost 2 days now so hopefully it will be done soon
All the firmware links I tried on Inovelli's website (Red Switch, Red Dimmer, Black Switch) just worked for me. If the URLs changed (I don't think they did because the direct links others posted above still worked for me too), you might need to try the technique above to get them from the download link on their KB page.
You can PM@agnes.zooz.Just make sure you have a copy of your sales receipt (or transaction ID) from when you purchased your Zooz switches/dimmers.
(sorry, didn't read the posts following yours).
Also, I highly recommend you follow the steps I outlined earlier:
@bcopeland quick suggestion to save myself and others repeatedly dragging you away from your coffee to extract Hex files for every Aeotec product in every region, can you share a link to an "Extracting Firmware update Hex files from Windows Executables for Dummies" so we can do this ourselves? or should i just keep my mouth shut and just ask you for it...? thanks for your efforts with this, and i gotta, say, amazing support!
