Still haven't forgotten about you ... unfortunately still haven't gotten time to dig in.
Seems my v8 bulbs work fine but v7 bulb won’t work. Don’t think it allows me to upgrade it to v8 either. Any ideas?
Do they at least turn on/off?
No this one won’t do anything, v8 ones are fine.
If you enable debugging in the device preferences, open your logs, and hit save, what do your logs show?

This is an RGB + CCT bulb, correct?
Update I’ve got it working somehow! Switched to using the following driver and it allowed me to turn it on and off without colour. Then switched back to the rgbw driver and all working. Strange!
Just the led strip now! It works but you have to press the on or off button twice to enable or disable it manually. I’ll work through the drivers again

Further update this bulb keeps going unresponsive to HE. Think it must be due to the version of it as the other bulb on version 8 works fine all the time. Magic home have said there is no upgrade available for this one so looks like I need to remove it.
Can you send me an amazon link to that bulb?
It doesn’t seem to be available anymore but here is a screen grab of the original order. Don’t worry about it I’m probably going to replace with smart light switches instead as friends and family turn the switches on and off which stop the bulbs working anyway 
Oh! I actually have that bulb. I’ll be doing some work on the RGBW driver today, which is what that one should use.
Ok cheers, I bought another one a few months after this and that seems to be a v8 one which works fine. Seems to be an issue with the v7 and magic have said it cannot be upgraded
