[RELEASE] IKEA Zigbee drivers

Wondering what the difference is between the "Rodret Dimmer" and the "Somrig Shortcut Button" (besides the double tap capability)?
Looks like they both support "Hold" for dimming when they are paired to Hubitat, so both could be used as both dimmer and simple button?

Rodret can do direct Zigbee bindings (control other Zigbee devices without the help of the hub). I think that's why you can find them bundled with bulbs and the Tretakt plug in some package offerings.

Somrig has double-tap (like you already said). Unlike Rodret, it does not use the standard Zigbee clusters 0x0006 (switch) and 0x0008 (dimmer), so it is unlikely to work out-of-the-box with most Zigbee hubs.

That's all I can think of.

I have a number of both Rodret and Somrig. Other than the double press, I see no difference in their effectiveness with Hubitat. They're unbelievably reliable and their price point is exceptional. NB, I've had a few Styrbar buttons. Despite software updates, they were hit and miss which gave me a massive negative WAF

My hub is not in a very accesible location, so I added a feature in the Zigbee Map app that will put only the hub in pairing mode and silence all repeaters.

Any chance you might make that available for others to use? This sounds like an excellent feature to add. (edit) WAIT ... is it Zigbee map app? (edit some more) Yes, it appears that it is, according to your post of 2024-07-01. I'll definitely look into adding this app.

I must add to the thank yous you've gotten for the IKEA Zigbee drivers. We just got back this week from a trip that included some IKEA shopping (nearest store is a four hour drive away), with a selection of their zigbee devices to experiment with. I've just now finished installing the Badring water leak sensor, thanks to your driver and instructions. We'll be looking at some of the other devices soon as well, but so far I'm expecting that their stuff will work well. Thank you!

Anyone running the vallhorn motion sensors have one get stuck in ACTIVE? I've got one that is reporting lux, battery, etc but it stuck showing active. New batteries, reset, etc.

I think he already did...

Yes, as noted in the edits to my original reply, I believe that I've found the thread where he discusses that. I've also found his github site so I'll be having a look at all of this in the near future, Thanks for the followup, though.

Did you try rechargeable batteries (eg LADDA from IKEA)? I read on some forums that Vallhorn gives false positives with 1.5V batteries and works better with the lower 1.2V.

They stay active even if you put them in a drawer? Maybe there is heat source that is messing up the infrared sensor.

You can also return/replace them at IKEA, maybe you got a dud.

Yeah. Just put fresh rechargeables in it. With alkalines they seem to get a lot of false triggers.

It's been working fine for a few months then just got stuck.

I've reset and re paired it a few times. The motion sensor works, because after I pair it it'll show inactive until I put my hands in front of it. But from there it never resets.

But it keeps checking in and reporting lux and battery.

I did notice when this started the batteries drained pretty quick.

Just paired it one last time and I'm gonna be careful not to trigger it and let it sit overnight.

Have you seen any other way to reset besides pressing the pair button 4x? I've read to hold it for 10s but that doesn't seem to do anything.

When I get a bit of time, I'll check the driver code to see if something is broken.

That is for pairing it directly to a smart light bulb or smart plug, without any hub.

Just to give you some more data, I have two of them deployed and they both get stuck in active from time to time. Usually when they are triggered by motion on the very edge of their range. I have a rule to notify me if it happens and then I just walk in front of them to "re-trigger" and then they fall back to inactive. I am using the Ikea rechargeable batteries.

For the price of these things I can't complain.

I have two IKEA Parasoll contact sensors and they have both caused my zigbee radio to go offline. I have to reboot the hub (radio reboot does not work) and then take the battery out of the sensor and put it back in. Not sure what's happening with them, but it looks like I'm going back to my Sonoff contact sensors.

Visonic "Xfinity" branded ones you can pick up 10 packs for $40 on ebay are AWESOME...They do temp reporting too.

I am finding my Parasoll contact sensors go through batteries fairly regularly. I am not using the rechargeable, just alkaline and I also get false reporting, usually staying active. An open/close seems to reset them back to normal. I have not had any radio issues, tho' I am still on the ancient C4. I am reluctant to upgrade to the C8P having read all the Zigbee issues with the new chip..

I have a few Parasols and they've been rock solid with my C8P. half a year in and the battery is still showing :100:. I have a lot of IKEA gear and everything is performing as expected. Perhaps my 10 IKEA bulbs are giving my parasol a great mesh.

After one of the Parasols dropped the radio a while back, I replaced the rechargeable batteries I was using with Duracell batteries in both of the sensors I had. Worked fine for a while until yesterday when the second different Parasol contact sensor caused my Zigbee radio to go offline. I'll set up some debug logging to see if that sheds any light on what's going on, and an alert to let me know my Zigbee radio is down!

I'm not sure if this carries any relevance but I use non rechargeable batteries. The red and white Panasonic batteries, and they are spot on thus far

Dan, do you have any of the Tretakt plus and how do they perform as repeaters?

I have just added 2 to my setup. So far they seem good. Early days though as they are only 2 days on HE now.

I have 2 Tretakts and 1 Inspelning and had no problems with any of them. I use one of the Tretakts to automate the kitchen worktop LED strip (they fire about 40 times per day) and experienced no missfires.

The Zigbee Maps shows only blue and green links with other repeaters, so no LQI problems there. They don't act as parent for any battery-powered devices yet, but they are the latest addition to the network (6 mo for Tretakts, 1 mo for Inspelning) and the network is oversaturated with repeaters. I hope they make good "parents" but I have no datapoints on this.
