I'm not sure it will close it 'fully' (pun intended) rather it will leave it open in the app switcher but make HD+ the active app. The way I did it previously was to use the HD+ app intent as the homepage for fully. Then set an idle timer of x seconds and and use the option to return to the homepage when the idle timer expires. As said something changed where even when I was on the homepage it would reload which became an annoyance. The key thing was to always use Fully to launch HD+ - it never worked if HD+ was already running (so once set up close HD+ and Fully, launch Fully which in turn launches HD+ as the Homepage). I'll have to give it another try myself as I've a Fully license on all of my tablets.
Ditto.
Every time I edit a temp sensor tile to enable the temperature background , HD+ immediately crashes (Im on latest beta, happened in prior version too).
When I restart the app, the temperature background is in fact enabled and works. Happens 100% of the time so far for all temp devices, virtual, real, etc.
My THIRDREALITY Temp and Humidity Sensor 3RTHS0224Z has worked perfectly since I installed it. I know this is not helpful for you. But the problem may be device specific.
Well for me , its occurring for some virtual temp sensors (maker api), some Zooz multi-sensors, dht22 sensors, and a couple other types, and as a new update, also includes Humidity sensors. Also happens when I edit the color scale. crashes, then I reopen and the setting were applied. Any sensor with the temp background color scale seems to exhibit it for me.
I did see a crash come in yesterday and fixed it. Hopefully that's the one you're seeing. I'm in the middle of some other changes but will release an update once that's ready
Hey @jpage4500,
I’m sure you’ve got a long list of features queued up for HD+, but if it’s even possible, it would be amazing to have the Hub Detailed Information Display added when time allows. I’m not sure if it’s technically feasible, but if it is, it would be a fantastic tool to showcase on our dashboards.
Thanks again for all your hard work—HD+ keeps getting better and better!
Thanks Joe, Appreciate the response.. and this awesome App.
Its not the worst thing since the settings do take effect even with the crash. But I have A LOT of temp sensors that I wanted to switch over to the gradient background..so After doing three or four android starts prompting me with the 'HD+ keeps crashing..'
Is it possible to change the font color of the title of tiles? I am trying to create an alarm system control panel and I want the tiles to hide completely when that item is in the right state (like a door closed), then show up only when the door is open. I can change the background color and icon color to achieve this effect, but since I cannot change the font color from white then white is my only option as a background to make the tile completely disappear. I would prefer black. Has anyone found how to change the title font color?
@jpage4500, checking in to see if you made a decision on this change.
My thermostat is set to heat, as we are still in the heating season. We keep the upstairs thermostat lower because we don't use the upstairs much anymore. The thermostat is set to 64 degrees, but because yesterday was a warmer day, the actual temp up there is 70 degrees. There are other days the spread is smaller.
In a couple of weeks, we will turn the system off any only turn it to "cool" on the 5-6 days during the summer where we need the A/C.
Providing this context in case it is useful.
Thanks for considering the change -- we are really enjoying the app!
Marc
thanks for reminding me on this one.. I started making the change just so I could run with it for a while and see if it made sense. But, I got stuck with this case:
The bottom-left thermostat shows the UP/DOWN arrows. If I hit one of those arrows the setpoint in the middle will change. But, if I use the current temp nothing happens and it might seem like the change didn't go though.
Anyway, that's where I left this one. I'm still open to making the change though.. just figured someone would call that case out as a bug too
Worst case I can still make it an option
I see the concern. After playing around with the current behavior I have a suggestion.
Here is what I see when I put the thermostat in "auto" mode with a tile that is 2-wide:
How about having cool mode look something like this:
And having heat mode look something like this:
I would add in the humidity reading for heating mode, like it shows up in cool and auto mode, but under the red down-arrow.
This eliminates the need to add another display option while keeping the behavior reasonably similar to what it is today.
Food for thought...
Marc
I’m into this idea—definitely a step up from the current look and feel. If my two cents can sprinkle a little extra magic, I’m happy to toss them in!
Having suggested what to do with the 2-wide tile, let's talk about the 1-wide tile.
It currently looks like this when in heat mode:
When in heat or cool mode, the center number is the target temperature.
When in auto or off mode, the center number is the current temperature.
To me it feels confusing that the center number's meaning changes depending on the mode.
My suggestion is to have the center number always be the current temperature. In the small text on the bottom, I would have it read something like this:
In these examples, the target heat temp is 68, the target cooling temp is 76 and the current humidity is 55%.
Another thought...
Marc
For my 2¢, Marc's 2 wide ideas are good. Possibly move the humidity to the middle so it is not lost under the down button.
Also like Marc's 1 wide ideas.
A slight reformating of the 2 wide would be to keep everything in the same place in heat or cool mode as they are in auto mode. Then there would be open spaces to show the thermostat isn't in auto.
I like both ideas. Does this look about right?
And here is a mock-up of the single tile based on the latest ideas:
Note: I didn't mean to do "Auto 55%" in black font. Should probably be a white font.
I've moved the humidity readout so that it's placement is consistent with the 2-wide view.
I'm using MS paint, so things aren't precisely placed or sized and the fonts are an inconsistent mess. I am just trying to convey the idea.
All look good to me. Please think about it Joe.
Hi everyone,
I’ve been using OwnTracks with HD+ since December 2024 to track two users—my wife and myself. The setup was pretty minimal: I simply added both users to the Maker API and then into HD+. After that, I increased the icon size to 3x3 so I could easily glance at our locations on the dashboard. Tapping on either icon would bring up a larger map showing more detailed location info, which worked perfectly up until now.
This week, I noticed that the map previews on the icons have suddenly disappeared—they’re just blank tiles now. Strangely, when I tap on the icons, the larger maps still load fine, so location data seems to be coming through as expected.
There haven’t been any recent changes to either HD+ or OwnTracks on my end, so I’m a bit stumped about what might have caused this. Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, were you able to resolve it?
Appreciate any tips or ideas—thanks in advance!
I've been meaning to post about this -- I got billed for > $100 from Google last month from using the Maps API. They must have changed their pricing because I hadn't gotten charged before and even had a limit on how many requests could be made to prevent getting charged.
I've always tried to build in API keys like this so everything just works out of the box but that strategy doesn't scale well In this case, Google gives 10,000 API requests a month.
Anyway, the solution is to get your own API key and enter it into HD+. I put together a guide how to do this below. It's free and you can also set a limit to ensure you never get billed.
Unfortunately it's a bit of a PITA to setup if you're never used Google Cloud Console before. I want to add a way to make entering the API key easier on HD+ -- like through some Hubitat device. I'll try to figure that out but at least in the meantime this should get the maps working again.
