Also add... I went BACK to the C7 and STILL get these errors....
You have to manually edit the file with the new token as when you restore the backup on the new hub it has the token from the old hub. There are details further up the thread
What file are you referring to?
I have uninstalled the android app and removed and reinstalled the HE app., so there are no dashboard config files anymore to edit.
Also removed the config files on HE for the dashboards (xxx.txt).
Shouldn't HD+ start from scratch?
Even then, when I start HD+,, it finds the hub, but cannot find the maker API... but it IS there on HE.
Ah sorry I misunderstood. There was no need to start from scratch unless you really wanted to. I was saying that to transfer the working dashboards you backup and export the HD+ file, edit the token with a text editor before restoring to the new hub.
Someone else may be able to advise…..
Well what I might do is just restore the C7 to before the migration started, then work on getting the HD+ to work.
One thing at a time.... things are getting messy right now, and I have had a busy day and am making mistakes...
Thanks for your input though!
This shouldn't be this hard, but I guess I was in too big a rush and started messing with things! DOH!
Rick Lithgow suggested I post this here. I looked in this thread for this question but couldn’t find it. Does anyone know off the top of their head what the minimum Android hardware would be to work reasonably well for HD+? I have an old 8” Android tablet but it was slow years ago. Any thoughts? I could just get a used one off eBay but want to make sure it would work reasonably well. Thanks.
Can I get a JSON response from MakerAPI on your devices? I'm curious if I can tell which commands it supports and if so I can hide anything that's not supported by the device.
Having access to both the volume and mute control right on the tile was one of the key reasons I re-wrote my dashboards using HD+ vs. Hubitat's built-in dashboards. I'd really prefer you didn't change it to operate like a dimmer and require the opening of a dialogue box to adjust it. The ability to control the volume & mute without losing context is a fantastic experience.
fair enough! I wouldn't recommend putting multiple buttons on a tile for the small 1x1 tile but yours are larger so at least there's some room to work with.
The slider itself drove me crazy when I originally had it on the tile for dimmer lights. Like you mentioned it was too easy to adjust when you were scrolling or clicking something else.
- Have the volume control slider only respond if you start by putting your finger on the "red dot" and drag it to your desired new volume. Don't respond at all to simply tapping a random spot on the volume line.
This makes sense to me.. and it'll certainly help. I'm not sure how hard it'd be to modify the sliders I'm using but I'll look into it.
What do other similar apps do for volume control? I'm wondering if something like the image below would work for volume? Basically you click on the volume icon and a vertical slider shows up right above it.. it's not the full dialog like I'm doing with lights but also makes it harder to fat-finger too and doesn't take up as much space
I think there is the potential to make that tile more usable by moving the control icons and volume slider up, vertically, thus leaving more space for the text.
I can try to adjust things -- either center the text or the buttons vertically and let the text wrap multiple lines
I definitely don't like the way the sound/speakers tiles look. That play button looks like a bug but I'm also not sure how the 'lock' icon is displayed in the background of that "FR Volume" tile either.
Anyway, if you can send me the JSON that will help me test this since I don't have any of these devices -- link here
I have an Amazon HD 8 that has been running HD+ for several years. I use it as a dashboard and I don't run anything else on it. But it works well.
I've sent you the information you requested.

I'm not quite sure what that experience would be like. Is there another device that I can try that implements this style of interaction?
Your vertical slider made me realize that the simplest solution is to move the mute button to the left side of the horizontal slider. This means that an accidental hit of the volume sider while trying to mute doesn't suddenly blast sounds to painfully high levels. At this point I would throw out all my previous ideas and simply move the mute button to the left end of a horizontal slider. Having no overlap between the mute button & the volume control slider, as depicted on your vertical slider, is also a good idea.
Somehow horizontal feels more natural than vertical, but that feeling might simply be a reflection of being more comfortable with what I am used to.
What do other similar apps do for volume control?
Control 4 and the Hubitat dashboard both implement horizontal sliders similar to what you have in HD+. Originally the Hubitat dashboard did not respond to hits to the mute button, but now it does. It looks like someone may have fixed this. A screenshot is below of what it looks like.
I've fully de-installed the Control 4 system that came with the house -- Control 4 is really for those that want someone else to do all the setup. I prefer DIY. In any event, their volume sliders were similar to the horizontal slider HD+ has today. I seem to recall that it had a similar issue with "fat fingering", but not certain.

Well I basically started over since i wasn't getting anywhere.
I restarted my C7, made sure that HD+ was working, made another migration backup,
shutdown the C7
Restarted my C8
Performed a soft reset so I could setup the IP address and restored the migration backup
got the current API key from the API app
edited the HD+ dashboards for my phone and tablet with the new local and cloud API key (the same).
restored the tablet/phone dashboards from the hub's filemanager,
and it worked!
SO FAR... 8 hours later, things are working EXCEPT my 2 Schlage Zwave locks, but they have been giving me trouble lately so I bought two of the ultraloq locks with fingerprint reader.... they seem to have pretty good comments here on HE.
I just couldn't get HE to control the locks, although the locks were reporting their states.
This is NOT to start things here as this is for HD+.
Here's what I've got so far - let me know what you think. The only way you can adjust the volume is by dragging the little icon - so accidental touches on the bar won't do anything.
The only other change which you can't see here is the song title will display up to 2 lines if necessary.
I really like it! Your decision to have only play+mute for the smallest tile is also an excellent idea!
For some reason I am thinking it would a bit more balanced if you moved the next, back, play & mute icons upwards a bit in the tile, basically centering them in the Y-direction between the bottom of the device-name text and the volume slider, but it's hard to know until you actually experience it.
The smallest tile has some text partially hidden under the "Alexa2" device name. I think it reads "IMAGINATIONS". Would be good to eliminate that, as it messes up the visuals on that tile.

Does the text scroll when this happens, or do you allocate more space to the text?
In any event, I look forward to trying this out -- it really looks great!
Marc
yeah, right now the controls are vertically centered in the tile; i'll see if I can get them centered between the slider and name

That's not text it's just part of the background album art (imagine dragons); I don't know if any devices actually support album art though (trackImage
attribute)

it'll wrap to 2 lines
version 1.0.2172 (beta)
- music player UI improvements
- seekbar improvements (used for dimmer and other sliders)
Most of this was discussed above but to recap I changed the sliders/seekbars used in the app:
- the 'thumb' icon must be dragged to change - can't just click anywhere to jump around
- a little larger and more clear thumb icon
The only other changes are to the the music/speaker tiles. I have a follow-up change I want to make which is to make the title and status text look like the other tiles.. I originally designed this tile to have an album art image displayed but I don't think any devices make use of it so I probably don't need these anymore.. but wanted to get this version out first
@jpage4500 -- can't wait to try it!
Is this still the correct place to download the beta version from?
You can also get the APK directly from here
Marc
- Install the app from Google Play here
- There is a beta version as well
- It's on the Amazon App Store (FWIW: Amazon's app review process is SLOW so the app is usually quite a ways behind here)
- You can also get the APK directly from here
that's right - when i push a new release it goes to the direct download link right away and then is submitted to google play beta. That takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days (you also need to be enrolled in the beta program)
I push to production version of google play and amazon's app store a lot less often.. ideally every few weeks though as long as there's no major issues with the beta version
Figured it out...
The device's tile was hidden, likely from day 1, and somehow the device type changed to Battery which I discovered when I made the tile visible. I changed it to Motion Sensor and it's working again.
I can't seem to get to Edit mode within a Folder any more on my Google TV?
Hitting Back button within a Folder exits the folder. I can only get Edit mode on main page.
That's probably due to the BACK key handling change I made recently. I thought I handled the case of a TV (non-touchscreen device) but obviously not. I'll get it fixed
