Installed new device, logs show battery level coming back at refresh. However it shows the battery level as null in rules.
Are you talking about rule machine? I just checked and its showing up in rule machine.
Send a screen shot of what you are seeing, also a screenshot of the device page. It should show the battery there.
The issue is its not showing up in the device. See screen shot attached. Doesn't look like the javascript is running on the fire 8 hd.
@gavincampbell, I installed on 5 tablet today and had same problem .
Tablet 1 :
Tablet 2:
I try click on Configure, Ping, Save Preference ...on page Tablet 2 but Battery Level, Motion ... not show up.
OK, I find out : Exit Fully, reboot tablet, turn On Fully, hit Ping, Confiure. Current States on Tablet 2 now :
Thanks a lot for this great driver.
I have a feeling I know why. What is your device network is set to? It should be the MAC address of the tablet. That is how Hubitat knows to rout the messages from the table to the driver.
If it’s not the MAC address then click on save preferences and it should change. Then on the tablet refresh the screen and things should hopefully kick in.
If that works I’ll update the first post.
Gavin my device network Id is my mac address of the device. In the logs I do not see anything coming to Hubitat from the browser. I would imagine i would see something in the logs similiar to the screen shot.
Please note this screen shot is not coming from FKB or tablet. Please check on both your tablet, phone and Devices page on HE : Server Password .
@gavincampbell, the states " checkInterval : 60 " is 60 minutes ?
Could we have on Preferences : set checkInterval : 1 or 5, 10,30,60 minutes .
Thanks.
No point. It doesnt actually do anything. I just use it as a marker so I can update the Last Activity (for apps that monitor it for activity) without flooding logs with useless data. Changing it will not affect anything.
You should see something in the FKB logs where its parsing the messages sent back from the device. If you are not seeing that then the messages are either not being sent by FKB to HE or the Device Network ID is not the right MAC of the FKB device. There is also the possibility of your IP address changing on HE and FKB is not sending it back to the right IP?
You wouldn't see the battery report right away until the first change. That is when the JS will kick in. But you should see traffic come in from the motion sensors as that is constant if you have that feature available on your device (camera and accelerometer).
I have read thru the threads but couldn't really verify if my use case would work.
I have Sharptools running on several wall mounted Fire HD tablets (stock OS) running the Fire OS version of FKB. To get around the screen lock issue, I use the screensaver option to dim the display to black. So the display still emits some light.
Can I use FKBC with some other "sensor" to turn the screen on/off?
I have not installed in any bedrooms because of this screen lock issue. I would love to put 8" Fire HD's in several bedrooms that would turn the display back on with motion. At night could even adjust the screen brightness to not blind you when it comes back on!
Double check this with the FireOS Fully version, but I think that if the screen shuts off on FireOS, it won't come back on without the screen being locked.
I recommend that you try it. Just install the Fully driver first and add/configure the device, then try going to the device page and click screen off, then screen on, and see if it comes back locked. I have Fully on Fire HD tablets, but mine are rooted and running LineageOS.
Correct. The only way around this is to root the device and disable the lock screen. That is how I do it.
Some have mentioned setting brightness to 0 but it doesn't fully turn it off. A good work around though.
Some general Fully Kiosk questions here (not sure if the app will help me with this)....
-
I'm finding that the screen on my Android tablet keeps going off even though I think I've set it to stay on in the app. There are so many options it's really confusing. But the screen goes black just a few seconds after use.
-
I did manage to set up the screen to come back on again using the front facing camera to trigger it. This works fine. However the browser is then locked up and doesn't respond to touch for quite a few seconds after it displays. Like it's running an update/refresh or something (even tho I've not set it to update or refresh itself as far as I can see).
-
the Android "daydream" screensave option doesnt seem to work on my tablet. It's an option in the system. Does it work normally for others? I'm wondering if my tablet is an issue. It's a Chinese one but is running v9 of Android I think.
What I really wanted is....
- screen would dim after a while but still show the dashboard and update the view if anything changes
- screen will go to full brightness when a person approaches and return to dim again if no motion for a while
- full responsiveness immediately the screen is toucbed (no delay after screen comes back on)
Is it possible?
Oh by the way I didn't purchase the full license yet. Was trying to test all functuons first, prior to buying (my assumption is the app provides full functionality but with the warning messages overlaid unless I'm mistaken?).
If anyone can assist me to get this set up properly or advise me, it would be much appreciated,
Cheers.
Sometimes you need to change settings in the OS. The Fully settings are really complex, so it's possible you have multiple different things set and one is overriding the other.
When my screen comes on in response to motion, sometimes it refreshes the dashboard display, and takes a couple seconds. Reduce the number of devices that your dashboard accesses to improve that. There's an auto-refresh timer in Fully, but I don't know if it ever helped prevent refreshes from occurring.
I have never used daydream...
I think that it is possible. I use a screen off timeout in my OS, and Fully wakes the tablet on motion. But if you set the screen timeout to "never" I think there's a dim screen option in Fully. If not, with this App and the Fully driver, it's possible to generate a rule in HE to do it. There is an option to dim the screen to a specific brightness, and you can listen for motion events.
As for the immediate response of the dashboard, I'd like to know that, too. My occasional delay is only a second or two, so it hasn't been a major problem.
Yes, you get to try the pro features for a little while before buying a license. I spent at least a week on a trial license while I was working out the kinks.
Hope I was somewhat helpful, at least. Good luck getting things sorted!
OK I have set this aside for the last few months, but I am back trying to get this to work. I have updated the code and am still having the problems mentioned above from my February post. I have checked and double checked all my FKB and FKBC setting numerous times. No Luck.
Can anyone who has this running on a Fire tablet HD8 help me here. Might there be some settings in the Tablet settings themselves, outside of FKB or FKBC that i should be checking which might interfere with this functionality?
LJ
EDIT: Here are the logs after hitting the Configure button on the FKBC device screen. It looks like some of the communication may be successful, but the logs aren't entirely clear on that, at least to my untrained eye
Hi all,
New Hubitat user here - just got the latest Hubitat C7 and I have a fairly specific use case for it. I've got several indoor hydroponic gardens and I had a couple of minor floods so I went ahead and purchased a bunch of SmartThings Water Sensors and Smart Outlets.
I've yet to hook things up, but in doing some research and reading, I also want to put up a 10" Tablet nearby and show a dashboard.
Right now I'm stuck on two main questions:
-
Amazon Fire HD 10 (2019) or Samsung Tab A 10.1 (2019) ? The Fire isn't rootable and that causes a bit more jumping through hoops as well as getting around the screen lock behaviour. Samsung is 70$ more but it sounds like it should be more straightforward to use and configure. Thoughts?
-
I do intend on getting the FKB plus - but if I'm not really interesting in playing chimes and what not, is there a reason to use this Controller?
Thanks!
I have the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet and while it's great I did have to isolate it from the internet to stop updates and the annoying splashscreen that would appear. like you I couldn't be bothered with the root option on this tablet. If I was doing this again then i'd just have gone the Samsung for a fraction more $$$.
Honestly i'd pay for the extra for the FKB plus because then you can integrate it into HE and also have it reload your dashboard, motion detection, turn on and off the screen as to not turn out etc etc. It's a small cost for a lot more capability.
I have three Amazon Fire HD8, but it was a pain to get them rooted, and if I didn't I would have been upset with the screen issues.
I'm running FKB, and it's nice to have all the plus features. I'm glad it can shut off my screen and turn it back on when I'm standing there. It's also nice for all the features available from
I recommend the Samsung, especially if you can get it rooted, but even if not. Certainly I wouldn't recommend an un-rootable Fire tablet. I'd imagine you'll use this for a while. Don't bother saving a few bucks, if you're going to use it. I use my tablets multiple times every day, so it's important they are working well.
Trying to set up a motionTrigger command and can't seem to make it work. Any one know what Parameter Type it is looking for to make it run in Rule Machine?
All I get is this no matter what I use for parameter type or even if I leave it blank.
I want the screen to turn on when my rule changes. I have the tablet set up to blank the screen after a certain time of no motion. It works fine if I click the Trigger Motion button in the Tablets Fully Kiosk Browser Controller Driver.
