Heroku requires a monthly fee. Why not run your own cookie server?

There's lots of option to run in a container on a NAS, docker install, Linux VM, RPi, etc.

Unfortunately, I don't know that there's a definitive step by step how to for all of them.

I'm a big iron guy and figured out how to get it running on a Ubunutu VM on my Win10 machine, so probably anyone can do it.

Take a look through a few of these and decide what platform you want to install on and go from there.

So, Anthony (tonesto7) the author of Echo Speaks maintains this. The code GitHub - tonesto7/echo-speaks-server hasn't been changed on his github in 4 years. That's because all this code does is accept a login and store a cookie that Alexa Voice Services needs to work. Don't expect the v2.7.2 code to change for this. Notably, my Heroku version was v2.7.0. Ok, I have gotten my local Echo Speaks server working. In my case, I created it inside of a LXD container. You can use a Pi or a VM also. I tried the Docker container solution and it worked fine, but was more complicated than needed. In my case, I used a LXD container that was Ubuntu 22.04.
