Could this be the same issue with nested sections that is being discussed on the influx db logger topic?

InfluxDB Logger issue

Double checked it internally, nested sections are not supported and we have no plans to support them in the future. It will throw a meaningful exception starting with next hotfix.

It does look like the original driver linked contains them.
