Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor

Hey Everyone,
New to Hubitat here and was wondering if I need to connect the Philips Hue motion sensors to a Philips hue bridge first or can I directly connect the motion sensors to my Hubitat?

It is definitely easiest (and possible) to directly pair them to Hubitat.

If you opt for the Hue Bridge, you will need a third-party option to bring them in, as the built-in integration does not support them.

Do you already have/use a Hue bridge? If so, you can either pair it to that (and then bring it into HE from there - I use and recommend Robert's own CoCoHue app), or you can pair direct to HE.

There could be advantages either way... My outdoor sensor is paired to my Hue bridge because it primarily controls a Hue outdoor light, and I simply prefer to manage all that from my Hue bridge (long story).

But I have 2 other Hue indoor sensors that I've paired direct to HE. and those work great too.

I too try not to call out my solution specifically without mentioning coco hue. We both created our solutions independently of the other, and both released at about the same time. We both tried to address the same shortcomings in the native integration. We take a different approach though. I use built-in component drivers whenever possible, to minimize the amount of custom code needed. Just two different approaches to solve the same problems. As I don’t get any money for my software, I am very open on the matter. As long as one of our products solves your needs, it’s all good.
