Hi-
I would like to use some attributes like 'battery' from the orbit in RM as a trigger. I am able to use valve-attributes for the dashboard and display battery but 'valve' is not available as a capability in RM trigger.
The ability to open/close water valves shows up for me in Rule Machine under "Select Actions":
It's easy to miss though because it's grouped in with garage doors, locks and HSM.
Out of curiosity what Orbit Hose Valve are you using? Is it Z-wave or Wifi? I did a quick Google search and I can't find any Orbit Valves that appear to be controllable from a hub like Hubitat.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a trigger not an action. I want to monitor the battery level and trigger a change battery message.
It's Orbit Zigbee 27087 and is "supported in HE'
I wonder what's needed to get this fixed. I would like to monitor if this Orbit Iris Hose Valve is Open or Closed,
I checked Rule Machine, Hubitat Safety Monitor and the new Notifications app, and none of them will allow an action based on valve open/closed, unless I missed something. I also have the Orbit Hose Water Timer and it would be useful to be notified when it opens and closes.
@bravenel, could this be added as a feature request?
Glad I didnt miss something when I checked them. I ended up using the WATO app for now and it works pretty good. Just figured this would be builtin..
We will add valve open/close to the next release of Rule Machine.
Thanks Bruce!
Thanks!!
BTW, Valve was added to RM in 2.0.8. Condition or Trigger Event.
Awesome! I just upgraded last night, will check it out...thanks!
Thanks!!!
How do we get a notification telling us the valve is open or close. I donβt see that anywhere.
You can send a message, and include the valve state in the message.
"The valve is %value%."
%value% means to include the last event value in the message. So this would send "The valve is open." or "The valve is closed."
No. You put that in the name of the Notifier. You would need to put it in a Text Notification. But, a Notifier isn't a logical place to do this, because you already know what happened. This makes more sense in Rule Machine, in a context where you don't know a priori what happened. Valve open-close is not really one of those contexts. Temperature is one that makes more sense.
Any suggestions on where I can find a couple of Iris Hose Faucet Water Timers (Model #: 27087). I haven't found a current source with web searches.
eBay!
Did a search earlier and they are sold out. Just did another search and got same result. Thanks for the suggestion.
Here's one on Amazon:
