Newbie virtual switch wifi device help

I am a newbie trying to setup a couple virtual switch for wifi devices I want to be able to control with hubitat. I followed YouTube video and searched Hubitat community.
Neither one worked.
Where else can I find specific help on this?
Devices:
Meross smart wifi dimmer switch MSS560
Govee 32.8ft RGBIC LED Strip Lights, WiFi Color Changing LED Lights H61171A1

WiFi is going to be tricky, mostly because the Vendors of those devices want to lock you into their product line. If the communications method and details (known as an API) is hidden, then no one can create a driver to perform that communications. Hubitat can converse over WiFi as well as anything but if the communication details are secret, there's nothing to be done.

Additionally, Vendors will put themselves (often a server in China) between you and your device. The communications would go from the smart app to China and then back into your device. Honeywell WiFi Thermostats, as yet another example, have their servers in the USA, and their API is known, so there are drivers for them, as proof that Hubitat is agnostic towards WiFi.

Over time, more and more Matter devices will be brought to market with some of them using WiFi. Because the API is known, Hubitat has Matter support for the past few months. Sadly, the Meross device you've selected is not a Matter device.

Govee has some of the same problem set but more solution options too. The actual LED strip is generic and there are more than a few RGBIC controllers. DO a search here on the forum for WLED and get some ideas.

Thanks for the information! I have several more wifi enabled devices. Rather then taking the time to try and get some to link/connect with HE i will keep managing them thru alexa and i will only add/replace with zigbee and zwave. I will wait on matter devices until it's more established as i have a new aqara front door matter lock that HE doesn't fully recognize. Thanks

Being that these are Govee lights, there is a high probability they can be brought into Hubitat via a community integration. Govee Integration V2

That would be the easiest thing to do, then you can directly control them without adding in 3rd party like Alexa or using a virtual switch. At the very least they should turn on and off from this integration, but there are advanced (but slightly rudimentary) controls over color and scenes within this integration if you don't need complexity.

So I guess the first question is, did you try the Govee integration?

I looked at the supported devices list and that Govee device is supported. If you have any problems let me know in that thread and we will get you working.
