Summary
Old Hue Sensors (model 9290012607 with reset hole) work on both C7 and C8.
New Hue Sensors (model 9290030675 with button reset) work on C7 but do not work on C8.
The new sensors get stuck in the Active state when on the C8.
The other posts I see on this topic don’t always distinguish between new and old model sensors, so I figured a specific post on this topic might help.
Based on other Posts I’ve tried:
- different ZigBee frequencies and power levels.
- tried pairing with and without repeater.
- Tried pairing while exchanging keys in the clear
- Waited 24 hours to see if change in behavior.
- Paired multiple times.
- Rebooted hub with ZigBee Rebuild on/Off.
- Same problem with multiple new Hue Sensors, so, likely not a sensor problem.
- Can move the new sensors between C7 and C8 with same result—work on C7 but not C8.
What's Next?
What did I miss? (Driver? Firmware? Update? Bad C8 Hub?)
All the solutions seem to be trial and error. I wish I understood why the new sensors don’t work with the C8 so there would be a fix that is straightforward.
My temporary solution is to put the new Hue Motion sensors on a C7 hub and use Hub Mesh to connect them to the C8.
I’d Appreciate any ideas as to a straightforward fix for this problem?
System Info
Running Platform Version 2.3.7.141
ZigBee Mesh now has 4 Old Hue Motion Sensors. I removed a ZigBee Bulb and ZigBee Repeater
Hub is using Zooz Z-Wave wall switches and Lutron Integration with wall switches and Picos
I'm gonna buy one just for laughs.
Picture of the new one might help too.
also, model#? Is that the sku you noted?
I can't find a place to buy that number.
No hit on it on Amazon.
eBay had them, but sold out.
Did you do a reset of the Hue sensor? I think that is what convinced my new outdoor sensor to join (issue encountered earlier this summer on C-8 hub).

I just ordered one off the Philips site.
aside: What the heck is "Signify"?
New name.
"In 2018, Philips Lighting changed its name to Signify. The company still produces lights under the Philips brand."
Yes, Reset was part of my many attempts. Also changed the batteries.
Seems like everything we've ever discussed here.
Sorry, can't find the SKU. I ordered from Costco--I was surprised that I got the new version.
I think the specs on the Philips page had the latest number. You'd think it would though, lol.
Got it today. Quick shipping from Philips (Signify)j.
It seems to work okay.
Paired right up to my C8.
Hit "Configure".
Did you do that?
Reports motion: active/inactive.
Wow, thanks for helping me out with this. Seems like my sensor stops communicating. While it is in the list of ZigBee devices and on the Devices page, it stops updating. My details looks different than yours as it is missing info:
Did you ever hit the "Configure" button?
My thing, after install, did not react until I did that.
Configure doesn't seem to do anything, even after re-pairing. Looking at the ZigBee logs, I don't see anything.
Huh... I just checked the 2 that I've long had installed (both SML003 versions) -- one has the same details Velvetfoot posted, and one has even less details than yours.
But both work great, so who knows
ETA - all on C8, both sensors on "02003506" firmware (which I think a couple digits are mixed up there - Hue calls this version "2.53.6", which is the latest for their motion sensors)
Yeah, I wouldn't get hung up on that. I think I induced some more info on an older one re: firmware, but forgot how.

With your encouragement, I again tried a second new device and it too just hangs. Signal levels look good; but, then it just stops communicating. I wonder if these are such an early release of the new version that I need a firmware update. I don't have a Hue hub to check. Here are my signal levels:
I bought a couple of these the other day. I have one in the Kitchen working great. All the same specs and I am on a C8, no troubles pairing. I have yet to find a place for the second one but soon I'm sure.
