I got a new C8-Pro Hubitat and followed the directions for booting it up wirelessly. The light turned from blue to green and I could see the wi-fi network but had issues connecting to the network.
I decided to turn it off and follow the directions for connecting via Ethernet. However when I did that, not only did it never turn green, it crashed the router in the process.
Now now matter which method I try (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) it stays blue... and if it's connected via Ethernet it'll crash the router too.
Then see if you can at least get it booted up to the blue LED without having router issues.
Then you will need to look in your routers UI to find the IP the hub got assigned. Or you can try arp -a from a cmd line and look for the MAC of the hub (printed on bottom of hub).
Hi, I'm new here and had a similar issue with my hub. Have you tried resetting the hub? There's a small copper-coloured button on the underside of the hub. Press and hold it for 7-10 seconds (using a toothpick). The light will flash, and the hub will restart.
Another problem I faced was using the Firefox browser. I switched to Edge and managed to connect by chance. After connecting, a prompt indicated that the device was corrupted, so Hubitat performed a soft reset. It updated and is currently working, though some of my devices aren't compatible out of the box. My Ethernet cable is still plugged in.
Thank you @jtp10181 and @corinnemallinson99 . I'm not sure what was going on with the router being taken down, but reseting the network let me move onto the next steps, hopefully it's smoother from here on out.
If you are going to use ethernet, make sure you clear out your wifi credentials in Hubitat's Network Settings.
Hubitat can only use one or the other -- if using ethernet, wifi is (unfortunately) not available as fall-back / backup option, so removing any trace of wifi stuff in Network Settings helps ensure that Hubitat doesn't get confused about which one to use.
ETA -- once confirmed up & running on your preferred connection (ethernet or wifi), I strongly recommend creating a DHCP reservation for Hubitat on your router. This will help ensure your router doesn't end up assigning a different IP next time the hub reboots.
