Modes not working in Android App

I think the latest firmware 2.3.9.176 release has broken the mode selector in the android Hubitat app. On the Home screen, the mode is shown as "Day" no matter what it really is and when you click on it, the mode options never load. If I go to a dashboard, everything still works.

This was a known issue with the Android app. Try updating to the latest Android app version as it now works for me on the new version.

Well, my app was updated on Aug 14th and it says it is up to date. I went searching for a version number amd the only thing I could find was a version number for the hub under App Settungs which also was wrong.

I would suggest providing some more details than just it was "also wrong". Ideally a screenshot would be easier to understand what may be happening, but even a more detailed description including the version number displayed would help others identify what may be happening.

As an example, I believe my Android App is up to date and is showing 2.0.4 (260) under the Version heading in the App Setting tab of the App.

Doesn't match your version or the hub version.

I don't believe the hub version is included in the "version", I beleive they both relate to the App, likely the version and the value in the brackets being the build.

I would suggest seeing if an update is available for you via the Google App Store.

There are no updates at this time. They must have pulled an update out of circulation.

Would be odd, but not impossible, I guess. Could also be that I am part of a beta programme....

I observe similar Mode behavior, except it is stuck on my "Sleepy" mode. Sounds like it is a known issue and not a bid deal for me. Adding one additional oddity below.

Android app version 2.0.3 (258), as described above. No update in the app store.

C8-Pro just updated to Platform version 2.3.9.176. The app still displays Platform version 2.3.9.166. For grins, I tried force-closing the app and clearing the cache. No update to Mode or Platform version.

No:

Yes, build 260 is the latest beta for Android.

Sorry I forgot I am using the beta Android app. The latest beta has fixed the mode issue for me.

Sorry for the confusion @spectaclelighting . Thanks for clarifying @bertabcd1234

Currently on App version 2.0.3 (258). No updates appear to be available in the store. Just updated hub to 2.3.9.180 2 days ago.

I am having the same issue as OP which was not happening on 2.3.9.176 for me with the same app version (at least I did not notice that it was off before).

App always shows "Early Morning" (I think that is where it was when I updated to .180) and fails to load modes when I click to change it.

Screenshots - At time taken, mode was actually *home*

The current version of the mobile app is 2.0.4. just in case it was a beta version I deleted the app on my device, left the beta program and was still presented with 2.0.4 for reinstallation so it doesn't appear that 2.0.4 is a beta.

Deleting the app doesn't remove you from most beta versions. You usually have to unenroll or remove yourself from beta.

I have the latest available in the play store

Edited to add, the two that say "install" are the secure folder locations that show as separate devices. The grayed out one is the phone that the app is on

Weird. The Play store shows my version being updated on Aug 14 as well, but if I look at the version in Apps, it says 2.0.3.

I am aware of this requirement and did indeed leave the beta program. For some reason you are not being offered the latest production version which is 2.0.4. Maybe it takes awhile to be removed from the beta. I'll look again in a few hours.

Would be nice if they had a page that listed the latest production version. The old app did not change very often. This one appears to get them more frequently. If we had a page or subforum that listed the latest version, we could know without guessing if we were waiting on some Google algorithm release wave or if we indeed had the latest.
(Note: It is fairly easy to see the latest beta version in the Mobile App section of the forum. Not so much with the production)

@tray_e

Google does not immediately remove you from the beta program when you leave it. I was finally offered 2.0.3 and installed it. I was able to duplicate the mode issue.

I rejoined the beta and after a few minutes was offered 2.0.4 which is indeed beta. Either I missed that on the play store earlier or it wasn't there. I probably missed it.

Anyway, 2.0.4 does fix the mode problem. I don't use the app often so am not sure if there is anything else broken but haven't run into any issues using the beta. Might want to give it a try.

To be fair (to Hubitat), releasing a new app like this can often see a flurry of both fixes and enhancements that did not make it into the original cut or delayed for some reason. I'd expect a similar reduction in changes once things settle down after the initial release.
