Looking for real-world testers: Skypane, a self-hosted wall-panel dashboard for Hubitat

I’ve been building Skypane, a wall-panel dashboard for Hubitat that runs on your own server in Docker. It’s now at the point where it needs real houses, not just mine.

What it is

  • Wall-panel pages for tablets: Home layouts, rooms, cameras, alarm keypad, thermostat, calendars, weather, timers, lists, guest Wi-Fi QR card.
  • A web Manager to set it all up, on a computer or your phone. It covers devices, panels, a drag-and-drop layout builder, cameras, pictures, accounts with several admins, and a health timeline.
  • Alerts in 5 levels through a Hubitat driver. Life-safety alerts need the panel PIN to dismiss.
  • Guest mode can lock the panels or blur the calendar while guests stay.
  • It uses Hubitat’s Maker API and comes with its own MQTT broker. UniFi Protect / go2rtc cameras are optional.

Who I’m looking for

  • People running Hubitat with a Docker host (Unraid, Synology, a Pi, anything).
  • Ideally more than one wall panel (tablets of any brand). Multi-panel homes find the bugs a single panel never will.
  • People willing to use it day to day for at least a couple of weeks.

What I’m asking for
This isn’t a “try the demo and tell me it looks nice” request. I need people who will:

  • Run it on their real system, with their real devices, family and routines.
  • Report what actually happens: what broke, what confused you or your family, what was slow, and what you wished it did. Include steps and screenshots where you can.
  • Answer follow-up questions so I can fix things properly.

If you only want to look around, the demo is open to everyone: [demo link]. You don’t need to sign up for that.

What you should know

  • It’s a test release. Expect rough edges, and keep your existing dashboard handy.
  • It runs entirely on your own server. Your Hubitat token and passwords stay there.
  • Setup guide: [install link]. Help: [help link]. Code: [GitHub main link].

Interested? Reply here or message me with:

  1. how many panels you’d run, and which tablets;
  2. what you’d host it on;
  3. roughly how many Hubitat devices you have.

Thanks. Real feedback is what turns this from “works in my house” into something everyone can rely on.

Original post here: Skypane — self-hosted wall-panel dashboard for Hubitat (work in progress, live demo, feedback wanted)

Is this thread distinct from the previous thread linked in the OP? If so, how?

Good question. They’re related, but different on purpose:

  • The original thread (Dashboards section) is the project thread: what Skypane is, screenshots, the demo and updates as it develops. Anyone can follow along, ask questions or suggest ideas there.
  • This thread (Help section) is only for the live test round. I’m looking for a small group to install Skypane on their own systems, ideally homes with several wall panels, use it day to day for a couple of weeks, and report what happens in real use.

I kept them separate so the project thread doesn’t fill up with install troubleshooting and bug reports, and so testers have one place to coordinate. Testers will also get a “Send feedback” button in the Manager that files the report for them, with the version and details attached.

If you just want to look or share ideas, the original thread is the place. If you’d like to test on your own setup, reply here.
