I purchased some of these LED strips and one came w/a bad power supply. I was going to return it for a replacement but the vendor didn't have any more stock and the price was much better than I found elsewhere, so I kept it.
Does anyone know of a compatible power supply replacement? The power supply seems to have a proprietary connector so I'm not too hopeful but wanted to ask.
I looked into this about a year ago. I think these will work, and then you can just add a power supply with the same output.
or if they're the indoor Mosaic, you could buy the connector kit and cut it apart to get the connector end you need for a third-party power supply. I only have the Gardenspots, so not exactly clear on what you need.
I could not get those plugs to work with my gardenspots (heck, Amazon even shows that I purchased some exact ones last year). Plus those are the 4 pin connection side, not the power supply side.
If you are talking about this style of LED strip controller it does not look that special (the teardown link below is a bit interesting for them):
If you are talking about the outdoor ones that attach to things like the Gardenspots, the ones that have something like a keyed "D" shape with 2 pins... Those are tougher to find. I have seen cables/pins like that for some of my other 12vDC outdoor devices (inflatables) but I have no idea if they are compatible.
There is a very negative WAF if I "mess" with the inflatables...
Sorry - my question probably needed a pic to make it clearer...this is the RGBW light strip (indoor only):
This is what arrived DOA. Searching for it I don't seem to find the same unit, except a B2B site that required 500 minimum quantity order. That's a few more than I need.
I owe you a beer. Thanks very much for reminding me about the warranty option. Really nice that they stand behind this stuff, and the reply to my email was very quick. Happy camper here...
For anyone out of warranty that can't get a replacement, you might try looking at IKEA. Their TrĂĄdfri drivers have an integrated 24v output voltage, so they may have a compatible 24v supply for non-smart LED drivers.
And the bow wrapped around the box for Christmas...replacement on it's way. Gotta say, really impressed w/their warranty support. I'm also working w/Breville on some issues w/my espresso machine and their time to respond to questions is pathetic compared to GE.
I paired it up w/the GE hub to do the usual FW update but it's not showing any update required. I'm assuming the one I got was already updated, but wanted to be sure, and didn't save the updated FW version info. Do either of you know what the updated FW version is for the LED strip controller?
This is what I have on the one that just arrived...
Thanks! They should not have stopped updating, their servers are up until middle of 2021 from what I've seen. I just updated a bunch of the strips a month or so ago. I removed it and added it a second time and it still doesn't offer me an update.
I'll contact their support and see what they say...
Well heck, less than a year in service and one of my gardenspots power supply has died. Wonder if anyone is still at home in that department to help me out.
Last time all I got was some coupons I couldn’t use anywhere.
