LIfe360 Refresh Button

There used to be a refresh button for Life360. I can't find that anymore. Does it no longer exist?

If I select custom action, refresh, in RM the LIfe360 doesn't show up as a device for refresh.

Still showing up for me...

Are you using the built in app or that special one? Cause mine don't show up like your showing.

Thats in RM4 running the latest firmware on hub. The emoji's I added to each of the devices labels so I can view them more easily.

Well that's weird. I'm on 2.2.2.125. And my Life360 devices don't show up in the list of items I can refresh.

Can you confirm the devices are still listed in your device list?

Something changed in the Life360 Refresh.

I had to go into the app, and it made a new device.
I deleted the old device and changed my RM4 refresh device rule.
Not sure what changed, but something did.

I just checked my log, and it had been generating a ton of error messages.
I'm just using the built in stuff.

I'm using BPT's Life360 with states, might be the difference.

The devices definitely still exist as they are in use. I was running into an issue where they don't always update and trying to solve that issue.

That might be it. I'm using the standard built in app.

Might give his a go... It's pretty slick. Tagging @bptworld and he might be able to chime in.

The individual Presence Devices will not have a Refresh capability when using the built-in Life360 integration. However, Hubitat creates a dedicated Life 360 Refresh device that will cause the Life 360 App to refresh the data for all Life 360 presence devices from their cloud server.

Here is what mine looks like...

How does that device determine what to refresh?

It refreshes all Life360 presence devices by asking the Life 360 Integration App to do so.

Here is a RM4 rule that I just created to perform an hourly Life360 Refresh... Do not choose 'Custom Action', instead simply choose 'Refresh'

So it’s a dedicated Life360 device. The device type is a little misleading. One might think it would refresh all devices.

Ahhh yes, based on the Driver Type name. However, this particular device is automatically created by the Life360 Integration App. I have never heard of anyone use that particular driver for a manually created device.

It also implements itself as a button (i.e. push() command) in order to make it simple to use from the Hubitat Dashboard.

There is a lot of history over the past 2.5 years of Hubitat's existence that I take for granted these days. I can recall users requesting a method to refresh Life360, when the integration used to get stuck more frequently. And then we asked for the ability to refresh it via the Dashboard when that was released... So, it is very understandable that it may be a little confusing to some newer users...as well as us old-timers that have forgotten much...

I refresh every night.
I see that you refresh hourly.

Is that what we should be doing?

Actually, I do not Refresh Life360 at all these days. For me, it has been very reliable for over a year.

The example Rule above was created just as an example for this thread to demonstrate one possible way of forcing Life360 to refresh its connection and status.
