Yeah, I keep a brass-bristled 'toothbrush' on the 3d shelf which I had been using to clean the nozzle. Once the bristles started to splay out it became handy to scoop up strings on the bed. That got me thinking about a mount but I really didn't like the idea. And I wanted to scrape all sides of the nozzle in a single pass. Then I happened to load a firmware update that added 6 touchpoints to the homing routine that fine-tunes autoleveling. Good idea, except it now drug strings all over the bed. This was now officially a PITA. I had just been looking at 3d-printed hook & loop and the close-up pix of the hooks gave me the idea. The backing on the velcro I had in the shop was thin enough to clear the end of the nozzle if retracted. Quick, easily replaced, works.
The pic looks like it's an 'after' only. You can see the thermistor taped to the wall.
It's not you, there aren't before pics as I forgot to document it - instead I added numbers to the pics to match the instructions.
NOTE : The only downside to this mod is that the 50c setting will throw an Error when it can’t reach it, I recommend not going above 45c for this reason.
We've been in the middle of a mini heat wave here this week, with crazy humidity levels.
Currently have 67% humidity in my office/printer room; worst I saw this week was about 75% in here - very odd feeling when it's so humid your carpets feel wet!
It's certainly been making my 3D printing efforts a challenge this week.
crazy humidity levels
Sounds like my area. The eastern half of the state is nicknamed "Hell's Front Porch" in the summer because of the humidity & prevailing sea breeze. Two whole-house dehumidifiers run 24/7.
67% -- 75%
Ugh! Do what you can to mitigate. You can get large mildew blooms in the house if it stays 60+ for a few days.
We don't have central air, just a portable unit in the main living area, so that makes it extra challenging.
We live in a large valley.
During the summer, we get several instances where large humid air masses just park themselves for 4 or 5 days in a row. It gets pretty nasty.
I'm going to pick up a dehumidifier in the off season for next year.
Reddit keeps a subreddit on 3d filament & printer-related deals
I printed out my favourite aircraft of all time in the last week or so. However my 10 year old son saw it and assumed it was for him …. I guess I need to print one for myself now!
For those that bought a new iPhone 15 Pro and want a super slim case, I made one today.

Comparison, normal printing on the left. Same Filament, but 10x the print duration on the right.
Edit: not quite as clear as I’d like, but still kills great.
Looks great - does the case end up having much flex, or is it stiffer?
Best TPU Shore Hardness to keep on hand for general home projects such as furniture leg pads, bumpers, tubing caps, gaskets? Also, does TPU withstand vehicle cabin heat or is it more like PLA?
Any brand preferences for direct drive?
Anyone near Spokane, WA? I have 2 ender 3 3D printers I no longer use and want to sell them. No I wont ship because it will just be a hassle to pack.
It’s fairly rigid, but still able to protect your phone.
The Orbiter system is my favourite, especially combined with its filament sensor.
Sorry, I wasn't clear on that ...any tpu filament brand preferences?
lol, all good. Overture is cheap and surprisingly decent TPU.
