Yeah, me too. I've changed a rule and now one of the names doesn't make sense and it's too tricky to remove/replace. Irritating. Let's hope they add this functionality.

Hello all. I am new to HE and I ran in the same annoying situation… 2 years after. I don’t know how high in their feature list it is now.

You can rename any Hub Variable that is in use by an app. Click on the name of the app (which would be orange color) and it brings up the apps using it and the choice to rename.

If the variable is not in use, you can't rename it. But you can create a new one with whatever name you want and delete the old one.
