Iris 3326-L Motion sensor always active

One of my Iris motion sensor all of a sudden is constantly showing as active. I have 10 other Iris motion sensors throughout the house and all these are working just fine. I've tried removing, resetting and adding it back to the hub. Put a fresh battery in, and put it in the cabinet next to the hub overnight. But the sensor still showed active all night. It can't be a mesh issue as i have iris plugs in each room. Sensors does seem to be reporting temperature normally. Anyone have an idea of what could be happening?

I'm in the same boat - I have one that is just like that. I bought these from the ebay alex person, and they sent me a replacement one. I tried everything just like you did. I chalked it down to a defective sensor. I bought 2 10 packs, one bad in the bunch.

Try deleting the Device in HE, reset the sensor and add it back. This happened to me when it was added to HE but not a 100% successful. Something went haywire during the pairing.

I've tried that multiple times using the instruction in the Hubitat documentation:

  1. Remove the battery and wait 10 seconds
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the left side of the device as you reinsert the battery.
  3. Hold for an additional 2 seconds and release.
  • Note: The reset button is a small white button located on the side of the motion sensor.
  1. Upon a successful reset your device will now be flashing Blue, indicating it's ready to pair.
  2. A flashing blue light indicates the device is reset and ready to pair again.

Is there an alternative way to reset the sensor?

I don't believe there is another method for reset. What Zigbee channel are you using? Try channel 20.

I have one bad 3326-L out of 20 as well. For the price I paid on ebay for these, I think they were still an amazing deal even with one DOA. I didn't even bother to ask the seller for a replacement.

Mine DOA sensor will not pair, no matter how many times I try to reset it. At least it came with a good battery.

I had one bad as well, didn't bother with the replacement either as they were such a good deal. I picked up 40 of them and have around 15 left for future projects. I knew I would regret it if I didn't pick up some extras at that price.

I'm wishing I bought a third 10 pack, incredible deal from that guy. I split a 10 pack with a co-worker, should have kept them all!

Looking further into my Iris motion sensor that is 'always active' and it turns out it goes inactive every time almost always 1 hour from going active. Are these on a firmware that can get updated from a smartthings hub or only from an Iris hub? It's not that big if a deail but my curiosity has the best of me.

Edit - It does report temp sporadically. Sometimes 30 minutes apart, sometimes hours away.

I believe ST will update the firmware on the 3326-L motion sensors.

Thanks, I just removed from HE and paired with ST. Any idea how long it takes? I'm about to look at the portal.

In the ST WEb IDE, go to your DEVICES, and click on this one. Once you bring up the details for the device, you should see the firmware version. There is something in there about OTA updates, IIRC. I think it took about 15 minutes or so. If it already has the current firmware, you can see that as well, I believe.

It thinks it is current....

Are yours reporting that same Version? Thanks for checking.

Does yours also look like this from the IDE?

I just happen to have one paired. Yes, exactly.

Thanks for checking! I was hoping I was on to something with the checkInterval 720, but the code below in the code showing 7260.

I guess there is something wrong with the internal clock on this one. Oh well maybe I can think of an application where I want to know when Motion starts and don't care for another hour??? lol

Sounds like my wife in the bathtub. LOL

No Comment...

I do have a Storage garage that I'm triggering Motion just for an HSM alert, It doesn't do anything else but that. I think I'll put it there, and move that one somewhere more useful.

Cheap Iris Sensors are still available... In fact cheaper than Alex provided them for on ebay if your buying 10 at a time

Enjoy

$18+ shipping is steep, but it is still averages under $7 each, so yea a very good price. Alex's were $5.50 each in the lots of 10. He actually replaced one of my motion sensors, and two of my contact sensors at no charge.

He has the leak sensors again, I bought them twice from him, such a great deal.
