Hue Outdoor Motion and Max Lux

I want to scale my bathroom light depending on the outdoor light levels. However, I am unable to find out the specs of what max brightness would be in Lux on the Hue Outdoor Motion sensor, to call it 100% brightness.

0 lux is darkness. I get that every night. The daytime varies so I can't even guess what a max reading could be.

Anyone knows more than the manual and google searches have turned up - nada?

Wouldn't just shining a really bright light at it give you something useful? There may be no actual 100% if the scale is like temperature where there is no maximum. I would just get the highest reading you get, and use that. Modify as it get's sunnier.

EDIT: the highest reading from the sun, not necessarily from a really bright light.

I set up a job to scale my kitchen lights based on my Hue Outdoor Motion sensor, and just tweaked it until it worked the way I wanted it to. Currently I have it set so that any lux reading over 12000 is considered bright enough to turn the lights out. But your mileage may vary based on where your Hue sensor is placed, how much direct sunlight it gets, and how much ambient light is available in your bathroom. I would suggest doing something like I did: take a stab at what you want and then modify as needed when you have better data.

On my Front Porch Hue Outdoor motion sensor, on recent sunny days, I have seen values slightly above 27,000 lx. Not sure how helpful that is? But at least it is a data point. My sensor is on the North side of our house, and so does not typically get blasted with direct sunlight through most of the day.

Max Lux happens on a totally clear day, at noon, on summer solstice. Every other day max lux scales down based on sun altitude and azimuth. My max lux readings are about 12000 in the winter, and upwards of 30000 in the summer. Depending on location, even max lux at solstice will be different depending on what latitude you live in.

I don't see where that matters though, you are just looking for a lux value that is bright enough where you want to change the brightness of the light. Those should be pretty constant lux values, though it will depend on how the sun comes in the window at different times of the year.

You might be better off with a lux sensor in the window facing out, as that would tell you how much light is actually coming into that room through the window.

You may want to play around with my SunCalc Illuminance Driver, it may have some features you could use.
