Hubitat Safety Monitor - How to Arm Away Manually?

I'm sure I' m missing something obvious, but in my Safety Monitor setup page there's no option to specify which device to use to arm away through the use pf a physical button.

I've followed the documentation and my page just does not have the option for 'Arm away with this button'. the only instance of the word 'button' on my page is 'Hubitat Safety Monitor also supports arming and disarming with button devices', which does indeed show my several Iris 1st Gen Power Outlets/wall worts.

Is the problem that possibly some types of devices can be used to disarm, but not arm? And therefore the option doesn't even present itself to me since those are the only type of button devices I own?

Thanks

Forgot to mention that under the option 'Hubitat Safety Monitor also supports arming and disarming with button devices'

the only option present is 'Cancel Alerts by turning On one of these switches''

Welcome to Hubitat!!

Do you have the away setup complete? It will be present once you create the Away intrusion setup. If you don't have the setup complete it won't display all the options.

Thanks Ryan!

I have set up the Away Intrusion component and have it set to include all sensors and send Pushover notifications as well as active a Noonlight siren.

I'm sure I must be missing something obvious.

For anyone else wth a similar potential problem, this was a good thread with lots of details:

At one point the poster had one of my problems, which is that even trying to 'arm' through the web UI didn't do anything. Unfortunately, he says an update last year helped him, though I am already up-to-date.

With the discovery I'm not even able to arm intrusion within the web UI (though disarming smoke/CO monitoring in the web UI seems to work), I'm now thinking my problem is bigger than just not being able to elect buttons on power plugs to be responsible for arming.

I use the Hubitat dashboard and use ST presence senors to automatically arm & disarm only problem batteries don't last a long time. Back to the dashboard app on my phone you can arm & disarm from there, hope this help you.

Can you post a screenshot of your HSM setup?

Thanks Ryan - see below:

You never said that you had it set up to arm by mode!!! From the HSM documentation on docs.hubitat.com

You see that OR in there. You can arm by mode or arm by button presses/switches. Not by both.

Ryan,

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious. Does it appear from this screenshot that I have successfully removed the 'arm by mode' option and should therefore see the option to arm by button?

Yes, but you have to hit done first and then come back into the app. It's not really saved till you hit done.

Hi Ryan,

Yeah I'd definitely done that. In fact, for my first hour or so of troubleshooting I never had any auto arm events; I only ended up adding some in a last ditch effort to get something to fire.

Thanks

No, i meant after you removed the setting by mode.

Ryan,

I have triple checked that I have hit all save buttons after removing the previous auto arm settings.

Still not seeing options to arm by button anywhere, and arming with the soft button in the UI don't change the arming status for intrusion.

Thanks

What do you mean

So, HSM doesn't work at all?!?!? Why didn't you start with that?!?!? You should either remove HSM all together and start over or contact support@hubitat.com

Ryan,

It never occurred to me to say that HSM doesn't work 'at all' although if not arming intrusion means such, I suppose that makes sense.

I mentioned in a post yesterday:

'At one point the poster had one of my problems, which is that even trying to 'arm' through the web UI didn't do anything. '

However, I understand your frustration and understand if you wanted to not troubleshoot further.

Thanks for the help so far - I'll keep plugging away since I'm sure it's something obvious I'm missing.

It's not that I don't want to its that if HSM isn't working within the WebUI there's nothing I can do to help you. Your best bet would be to re-install the app (which is what I would do if it was working like that) or contact support. If the option just isn't showing up, there's not much else to do.

Welp, I uninstalled HSM, reinstalled, and made a couple basic intrusion rules and it's working with the weu UI buttons! Thanks for the idea.

Now on to figuring out why I'm not presented an option to arm with physical buttons.

I put in a support request and if I get a resolution I'll post it here for the benefit of others.

Do you have any button devices installed on your system? Devices that specifically have the Pushable Button capability? Try adding a virtual button device and see what happens.

Ryan,

That did it! I knew it would be something I was doing wrong. I hadn't added the 'virtual device' of the 'Iris v1 button'.

Thanks for all the help.
