Hub Reset - won't restore, lost everything [Resolved]

** I sent this to support but it being the weekend I thought I'd cross post here if anyone had some ideas**

A few hours ago I noticed my wall mount tablet was missing it's dashboard (app not found it said)

Pulled up hubitat and it was just empty....no devices or anything as if it was new. Up until this moment, hub has been fine for months and months. I updated to .128 about a week ago. I also added a zigbee bulb maybe 2 weeks ago and have not used it or put in any rules for it. Other than those 2 things no changes. Noticed a automation or two were on the slow side but nothing else I've been concerned about.

I have done a soft reset and restore with 3 different backups. None worked.

From the 14th it restored completely blank, no apps, or devices (the backup file was around 20mb)

From the 13th it hung at 10% on boot for probably 20 minutes. I gave up. Soft Reset

From the 12th it seems to stop at 30% on boot and will not get past it. I let it sit about 45 minutes and then finally tried using 8081 to restart and that hung, let it sit 10 minutes and then finally cycled power.

I sent the above to support, tried one more soft reset and restore from db backup on the 12th been 20 minutes still hanging at 10% on boot...any ideas?

At this point I can't even fathom re-doing all the automations, I would rather just start over with a new platform. I've got 4 backups and it seems they are worthless. I can't fathom being on a platform where having multiple backups doesn't mean your safe at all. I've been using hubitat since 2018 and this may do me in.

When you start up the hubitat, what color is the LED?

If it is blue, PM me, and I'll send you instructions to possibly recover from this.

Sure sounds weird.
Have you cleared your browser cache in case it’s NOT actually the hub but more of a software issue ?

@aaiyar led is currently blue, been sitting at reboot 10% around ~30min

Ok give me 5 minutes to get to a computer.

Definitely not that, shows on all my tablets in the house too. Just checked on alternate browser, same...good idea though.

No luck?

So got stuck at #3, the platform page seems my hub, nothing on the web interface on port 80 though, went to 8081 and tried soft reset, get "Unknown error occurred"

If I had to take a guess, nothing was restored to the hubitat in terms of firmware.

Also went to 8081, tried "Download latest version" it immediately says "success'" much too fast for it to have done any kind of download.

Sorry to hear that.

I let everything settle for a while and was able to get a backup to restore finally! - everything shows in the device list, the process was totally opaque, I have no idea what transpired with the firmware reload. I can only assume it worked one of the times I tried it.

No worries - @bobbyD is the one to thank. He had sent me those directions (fortuitously just a couple days ago).

Do make a fresh local backup now that it’s alive again. I haven’t setup local automatic backup myself yet, but that is next in the list for me.

I actually have a scheduled daily and weekly backup that is automatically taken remotely. At some point something went wrong there as those backup files were only about 3mb while my regular backup was ~20mb.

How would one setup automatic local backups?

You have to have an automated way to call "http://hub_ip/hub/backupDB?fileName=latest" from a different computer.

There are a few ways to do it
