Good testing.
Seems Jeff's comment is on target...
I think we're going to need help from @bcopeland and (or?) @gopher.ny on LR devices not restoring from a migration (C8>C8-Pro).
I guess the next test will be to remove the LR devices from the C8, create another backup and see if that allows me to add them back on the C8 Pro as LR after the migration.
That will have to wait until tomorrow though.
Good night guys thanks for all of the suggestions.
So full Zwave radio reset seems to have made this work. What a PITA though.
I am still working through it. I will say this though If I had everything in @jtp10181 Smart start app restoring all of these would be a cake walk. It will be fully loaded once I get through this recovery process though. Now that the radio is doing what it should it is just a matter of Scan the code, Exclude the device, then let Smartstart get it in. His app is a blessing with this. Ring sensors also make this easy since they like SmartStart as well.
The pita has been getting the devices back associated with apps. There is some wonkyness with just clearing the radio and leaving the old devices on the hub to retain the app association. I had a few occasions where i would do the Swap Apps Device option in settings and it would appear to pick the wrong device. Also the old devices it appeared to copy would disappear. It is really strange.
Hate to tell you this but if you did not rename the DNI of the old devices first you are probably making a big mess. There is an old post from Bruce with instructions on how to do it.
This?
Yea. I had kind of come to this same conclusion on my own. I already started this process to try to mitgate the issues.
@jtp10181 Any idea why the Zen30 Double switch device might wouldn't create it's children? or should i just re-pair them
I am in the home stretch now only 2 devices left to add and a a few switches like Double switches that have children devices.
How about getting the c8 back up.
Exclude the lr devices on the c8 and also remove.from devices and a
Smartstart and do a new cloud backup.
Full Resetting the c8 pro
Then do a restore and try again to manually add the lr devices.
Earlier this morning I wiped the radio and have reloaded everything. Now the only problem i have is the Zooz Zen30 Double switches aren't generating their child device for some reason. The LR devices all added fine after the radio was reset. Well i also have one Ring Contact sensor that just refuses to add back to the hub. No idea why. but so far it hasn't been to bad
Here is the error that the device is getting when it is trying to add. Looks like the device is trying to add, but then failes in some fashion.
\The Zen30's are zwave 700 series.
Do you have the most current ZEN30 driver? I would need to see more of the configure output.
I have it through HPM. i will do a repair
Should show the version on the top right corner on the device page, 2.0.2 is curent.
That is what it shows. What do you want me to do to test it. Well provide more logging
Start of the configure should look something like this:
I removed and added those double switches back multiple times in different ways (classic with and without S2 Encryption, and with Smartstart) and it was a no go. The line about the Unhandled zwaveEvent: ZipNamaingNameReport got me worried there maybe another corruption issue. All I ever got was what was shown above. The last 3 lines were all I would get once I clicked on configure. It would get to that point and just get stuck. Late yesterday i wiped the radio again as a troubleshooting step and got the same result.
I finally got them to add with their child device for the relay by removing the community Zen30 Driver and letting the add take place with the built in driver for it. Once I did that the 3 double switches I have added right the first time.
One thing that was strange is I saw what looked like 5-6 scheduled jobs on the device page when scrolling to the bottom. They would just show pending status because they seemed to have a time in the past. Not sure what that was about I suspect some part of the set process was getting stuck in those jobs.
Your SmartStart app has been a god send with this as well by the way. Now that I have gone through this process once, all of my S2/Smartstart capable devices are loaded. Adding everything back is pretty much a breeze as long as each device does what it is suppose to. I have one device that just doesn't want to join back. but 55 of 56 devices isn't bad 98%. Almost all of my Zwave devices are Zooz and Ring Zwave 700+ devices. Major kudo's to you for that app.
Thatβs normal, itβs due to the smart start coping the same I guess, not sure why it creates a zwave event.
I can test my two spare Zen30 as a new inclusion when I get back home later this week. I have a v3 and 800LR. Since the driver matching was so broken before I had no way to test a new include properly. I may have broke something with an update. Unless 2.3.9 broke something With zwave.
Cool, just to be sure you know. Mine are some Zwave 700 v3 versions I have had sitting waiting to be deployed. I got them right before the 800 LR stuff was released and they have been sitting waiting to be installed until just recently. Not sure if that makes a difference, but wanted to be sure you knew what I was seeing this with.
Jeff, not sure I agree.
I had performed a reset on my production C8-Pro, and then a restore from a cloud backup.
Did not resolve my problem.
The other test, I did reset the C8 device, but did not restore from backup. This one worked.
