First there was a user created Homebridge integration.
This is the one I use: [RELEASE] Homebridge Hubitat v2.0
Now there is also a built in Homekit integration which is newer. You could say it is like running homebridge on your hub but I would imagine it is HE's own code. You can install it from the system apps menu.
The comment you replied to I think was in reference to when the system integration did not allow locks as they were going for Apple certification. But then they decided to just allow the locks anyway and keep it as an uncertified bridge.
