Help I cant connect to my hub

Shut down from the settings menu, wait for red light, unplug from wall (not hub). That said, yes sometimes if it's locked will only be able to power cycle by directly pulling the plug. I'm just saying if it can be avoided don't. Next time it locks though see if you can get to yourhubip:8081 from a browser...

I don’t understand what this means.

What was just moved?

The hub

okay thanks

I have been using the Habitat Hub for approximately 5 months now and have encountered the same connectivity issue multiple times. Despite my best efforts to troubleshoot, the problem persists. The hub's indicator light alternates between red and green, and I am unable to connect to it through my browser.

Here are the steps I've already taken in an attempt to resolve the issue:

  1. Unplugged the hub and waited for 10 seconds before plugging it back in.
  2. Searched for the hub through the discovery feature on my device.

Unfortunately, neither of these solutions has yielded any positive results.

I am starting to think that this might be a product flaw, given the recurring nature of this issue. I would appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and any guidance you can offer for a resolution.

Thank you for your time.

Red and green alternating says that the hub had lost network connectivity. Might try using a different cable and router port.

This post reads like it was composed by a generative AI bot.

But like @thebearmay said, the red/green flashing LED often means the hub didn’t get an IP address.

We discussed this in another thread several months ago, which the OP stopped responding to, although a few people were trying to help troubleshoot.

@bobbyD i suggest merging this post into that thread.

A separate thread serves no purpose and will only make it harder for everyone here to understand what the OP has tried before with respect to suggested troubleshooting steps.

Couple of things to try:

  • Update to 2.3.6 firmware. It has better reconnect logic.
  • If issue persists, please PM me your hub id, and I'll check the engineering logs for clues.

I keep having this issue over and over like twice a week at this point what should I do now my automations stopped working and its a solid green light

Can you access the diagnostics tool on port 8081? Http://yourHubIP:8081

I connot

Don’t click directly on that link, it won’t do anything. You have to substitute your hub’s actual IP address for “yourHubIP.”

So for example, when I access my hub’s diagnostic tool, I enter http://192.168.1.49:8081 into my web browser, because my hub’s IP address is 192.168.1.49.

I feel like if the automations stopped working the Hub UI probably locked up. Usually when that happens the diagnostic tool still works.

If that does not work even after properly substituting your hubs IP, and the LED is green then you most likely have a networking problem that knocked the hub offline.

What is make/model of your networking gear (router / switches / APs) ?

How the frick do i get this information

What do you usually enter in a web browser window to try to access your hub?

Still not convinced the diagnostic tool is actually down when it locks up, I think that's why Mark is asking how you normally access the hub.

You would get the make/model by looking at the info sticker on the equipment. Where did it come from if you don't even know what you have?

Im 16 didnt buy it or setup my wifi router i go to find my hub site to access my hub

Ok so then what exact URL did you try to access the diagnostic tool?

On the networking side, you are going to need to find out what equipment you have. I see up above you have it connected on Wifi so I assume it is also a C8 hub. If you have a mesh Wifi network and it is running Wifi optimization channel scanning overnight then it is possibly knocking the hub offline during that process.

@gopher.ny would this wifi disconnect issue be fixed with the recent reconnect logic added in 2.3.6?

when I unplug the hub and plug it back in I have it working for about 5 hours or more then goes back to the broken state as of right now such I unplugged it and plugged it back in I can access the diagnostic tool

Probably. Hard to say with the variety of networking equipment floating around, each one got quirks.

Can you PM me the hub id? I'll check the engineering logs, maybe there's something there.
