Since these were listed as supported, I bought two. This may be some new rev, but it's the ones selling right now. Every time I've tried to add them the driver comes up as "device,"
Not the built-in driver.
However at some point while working on these ONE time, ONE of them showed entries under State Variables. I've yet to test them since it's a bit of a pain to do so, but just curious about...
1) Why the default driver doesn't work 2) If they are connected correctly should I have entries under "State Variables."
Thanks!
Quick Update:
I just tested this with a gas stove. While it alarms, the only log message I get is the following through the whole process.
dev:6422024-12-11 10:57:31.459 AMinfoKitchen Gas Leak Detector gas is clear
dev:6422024-12-11 10:56:13.958 AMinfoKitchen Gas Leak Detector gas is clear
dev:6422024-12-11 10:55:56.128 AMinfoKitchen Gas Leak Detector gas is clear
It NEVER actually shows anything but "clear"...but it does trigger that message.
I'm also not sure about this long term. Testing them for leak response over a gas burner it's takes quite a bit to trigger and seems like the gas needs to be extremely concentrated. I mean to the level the house would probably blow with an arc from a light switch turning on.
Much less you'd be unconscious anyway.
That said, this is hard to test. I had to hold it right over the "off" burner to get any results. In the real world...lower levels over time "might" trigger too.
I'm not a big fan of "might" when it comes to safety.
I have an old Heiman Natural Gas detector that is connected and set up correctly, however a new one I just received is showing up as "device" after being discovered during Zigbee paring even though I manually selected the type as Heiman Zigbee Gas Detector.
Here is the info I think @mike.maxwell may need to add it in the next update.
The device is supported, in the sense that it should work with the hub when the right driver is assigned, although the pairing fingerprint info does need to be added to the driver code to make things as seamless as possible for the user.
Are you able to use the device as expected after reassigning the driver manually?
Just remember HSM is nothing special, it's simply a subset of rule machine. So if you don't feel like using it that's fine. Also if it helps, I have an auto shut off on my main gas line that trips if the gas sensor goes off.
I have some of the Heiman sensors...one is about 6 ft above my gas range. I have opened the valve with no flame a few times...the sensor has never tripped.
Has anybody here done any functionality testing with these?
as kahn-hubitat stated, natural gas will rise so sensors need to be high to be detected, propane gas falls and sensors must be low to be detected.
So not sure what gas this detector can detect, but if it's for both, you will need 2 of them to make sure it detects both gases (if you have both gases in your home of course).
