So, I have a iPhone 16 Pro Max. I use Geofency with iBecons for a lot of rules/triggers. What I have found out is my iPhone’s BlueTooth hoses up quite often. I now have it reset the interface at 3:33 every night and this 99% of the time fixes it.
Even though in Googling all the BT erros Apple has…I really still have no idea if this is just my phone…or all apple phones.
But often iBeacon states stop changing until I turn BT off..and back on….on my phone
Thanks…It’s really rare that I have issues with it reporting crossing a geofence line over cell towers. I just use iBeacons in several places…like my cars…so I have to be in range with them AND cross a geofence to trigger a rule. That way when I’m just out for a walk and cross a geofence it doesn’t tigger an arrival or departure rules. But if the last state is in range of an iBecon those rules will trigger if BT is hosed and it still thinks I’m in range of one…when I am not….rules trigger that should not.
I used Geofency for my phone and my wife’s (both iPhone 17). Worked fined for a long time. Then hers became very sporadic. Mine was still fine. I switched hers to OwnTracks and it works great.
You could look into OwnTracks...works on iPhone or Android, and works very well for a lot of us...dev is very responsive. Private, nothing shared about your location info on the cloud.
For reasons unknown, Apple, a company that makes impeccable products, has been a giant cluster disaster with Bluetooth since the dawn of time. Both my 2008 and 2016 BMW’s only had updates to the nav system to deal with Apple breaking connectivity on EVERY iOS drop.
I haven’t had a wink of issues with Bluetooth since ~2010 on Android devices (Samsung or Google).
For some reason, Apple presence via Home on my 16e/CarPlay/'26 Prius is working. At least for a couple of days now. I have no idea why, but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth.
It's nice coming home to an open gate and garage door. Closing works as well. Timely actuation on a perimeter.
I pointed to Apple Maps on CarPlay before disabling the display (I like it that way), so maybe that has something to do with it. I'll experiment some more, over time.
That’s what I’m thinking…add that to the fact that my computers are Window,and I still have to even use iTunes…and I’m thinking it’s time to move on. Apple on purpose…does not play well with Windows.
