Hi all,
I'm looking at putting up the Govee Pro lights this year but I'm having a hard time deciphering exactly what they are capable of and what HE can do with them (local/cloud differences). As advanced as the Govee light product line is I was disappointed at the lack of documentation readily available on their site so I can read about the features. They aren't cheap so I want to make sure these will be a truly 'permanent' solution (I know all things aren't permanent with tech ).
Can you fully control individual lights, a group of lights, or are there only the fixed scenes I've read about, and if it is only fixed scenes then where can I find a list? Do I have to use Matter or is the API simple TCP/IP (I want hold off on Matter until the integration has a little more time to mature)? If anyone has installed/used these can you provide some insight? Or if someone has a Govee manual I could read. Any info would be great.
Thanks.
You might want to check out the main thread for the Govee integration
Thanks. I've read through, and have been following, that thread for awhile and I couldn't find many details in regards to the Outdoor Pro lights. I was hoping someone is using them and has some feedback.
Are you talking about this item.
It is certainly controllable with Govee Cloud API, LAN API, and Matter.
For as much control as possible you want to use the Cloud API. The available control fluctuates a little by device, but if the decice supports all of the possible commands you can control segements color and brightness individually. I believe that is at the individual light Pod. You will have access to each of the preloaded scenes as well as DiY's and Snapshots. DIY's and Snapshots are built withing the app to creat personal animations or light effects yourself.
If you enable LAN API the driver enables controll completely local for commands that the LAN API suppports, Scenes, and DIY's. Commands that are not part of LAN API continue to work through the Govee Cloud API.
If you install with matter you can activate scenes, bit the advanaced cloud API commands are not avaliable. In theory you could use the Govee Integration APP to extract DIY's and Snapahots and add them to the file used by Govee Matter Driver to enable scenes and snapshots as well.
Thanks Yes, those are the lights and you hit on the biggest question, what does this device support.
I've poked Govee support, too; to see if they can provide a manual.
Hi all,
I've been all through their documentation and asked support but still no answer to this one, can these be 'T'd? The receptacle at my house is about 1/3 of the way in where the lights will be mounted. Since this product seems communication based can the controller connect to a 'T' and there be strips going left and right instead of a single direction?
I can't find anything to indicate that would be part of the kit. I really believe I saw something like this a while ago, but i can't seem to find it now.
Thanks, yea... I saw that it's not part of the kit (or any accessory for that matter), I can easily source a 3 wire ip67 T. I just don't know if the lights would still work.
