Good Zigbee Outlet Receptacle as Repeater

Is this a good repeater?

Enbrighten Zigbee Smart Light Outlet Receptacle, Tamper-Resistant, Pairs Directly with Echo 4th Gen/Echo Show 10 (All)/Echo Studio/Echo Plus (All)/Eero Pro 6, 1 Controlled + 1 Always On, White, 43102 https://a.co/d/ag2rkmR

I have two of them and they seem to work ok. Never had a an issue with edge devices such a Sengled LED bulbs that route though them. My gosh the price has gone up I got mine for $35 each.

Just checked the Jasco site and it's a bit cheaper there:

Other cheaper options include Centralite plugs (if you are OK w/something attached to an outlet), Sengled and Third Reality (4 for $30!) plugs as well:

Doesn't do power reporting:

Just stary away from the Ikea Trafri. It works but the repeater portion is weak.

I can't comment on how good they are as a repeater, but I purchased one - it paired in 5 seconds and has been perfectly reliable in responding to commends. No complaints.

Do you know that the Thirdreality ones make good repeaters? Because the price is really good.

Do any of those three report power?

The Sengled ones can - so use them with care; indiscriminate power reporting can bog down a mesh.

My personal preference is to use Wifi devices for power-reporting, and dedicated USB repeaters for my zigbee meshes.

Not my experience with the repeating outlets. They really strengthen any Zigbee network. And power output is higher than their dedicated repeater. IMHO the cheapest way to end Zigbee problems.

Third really is a god tier of devices, they always just work. The do not power monitor but I happen to know they are releasing a power monitoring plug. Like others mentioned only monitor if you have to. If it doesn't matter for the automation than dont do it.

I’ve used Sonoff and Ikea dedicated repeaters with success. I’ve also got a Sinopé thermostat in every room that act as great repeaters.

No personal experience or gleaned information, unfortunately, w/the Third Reality plugs.

This has become my preferred approach as well, via SonOff dongles.

Why are people using dedicated sonoff dongles? That just doesn't make sense to me.

They are small and relatively inconspicuous. I use them in several spots where I don’t need a Zigbee plug. In some cases, I have plugs with integrated USB outlets that don’t interfere with the plugs, so this works well.

I did have issues with all my Aqara sensors. I did read that these outlets had weak radios. I changed to Tuya ZB 3.0 repeaters and I have had 6 months of rock solid Aqara now.
Didn't need the outlet anyway, just tried then as they were compliant with Aqara's implementation of ZB.
YMMV

Just a fyi regarding unneeded plugs as repeaters. Pop one of those "plug-ins" air fresheners. The type that uses oil warming for scent. You can stretch those things a crazy amount of time with a clever automation.

May not be what you are looking for but their outdoor "pigtail style outlet" has been surprisingly good. I just looked and it has actually taken over some routing from an Ikea Trafri I have nearby. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean anything without knowing the details of the particular circumstances that involve the black magic of radio.

Was out there a lot cheaper during the online Black Friday/Monday sales.

My two gotos for ZigBee plug in outlets/repeaters are

  • SA-003 eWeLink zigbee outlet (sold by sonoff and a bunch of others, it's the round unit with a single button on the side). No power monitoring. $10 or $12 each US.
  • Peanut plug. Others had problems with these but mine on the latest firmware are rock solid. They're cheap used and do basic power monitoring.

Actually im kind of sad that I cant fnd anymore Iris V1's. Like most the Iris stuff, their of the highest quality.

Anybody know if you can turn off power monitoring or adjust the reporting intervel.

Oh oh, no peanut wars, I too have a mix of Peanut plugs in my network along with the sockets and no issues. But again some folks do have issues with these devices.

I couldn't pair my Inovelli switches. Hub is upstairs and Inovelli is downstairs. I got a Centralite paired in seconds in the same location. The Inovelli's paired immediately after that. To be honest, I got them because I could get them next day from Amazon. But I am happy with them.
