Finally!: Zigbee USB Smart Adaptor (SONOFF ZBMicro)

My wife has this round moon frame / light in our bedroom powered by usb that we never turn on because … well … it manual. That was my first thought.

I also have a light up collar for my cat that we recharge overnight. I assume the battery will last longer if I switch off the charger after a few hours.

Beyond that, no more ideas.

Just curious....which is the REAL "Sonoff website", itead.cc or this?

https://support.sonoff.tech/zbmicro-usermanual/

EDIT: Whoops, nevermind....I see this is one of their online channels.

https://sonoff.tech/where-to-buy/

This site is in China. The new products are first announced here.

Can't find much info for sonoff.tech ?

Seems to be a site hosted on AmazonAWS

Oh dang. And I was going to complain that I just bought one.

I just got mine and it does work as a Generic Zigbee Switch.

One caveat: the green Network LED is in a fast flash, which means the device isn't seeing something. But on/off are working as expected.

(and the two LEDs are really faint)

40 minutes after I added it to my C-7, and I had this happen (for the first time ever):

It must be a coincidence.. I hope.
If you monitor the Zigbee traffic on Settings -> Zigbee Details ->Zigbee Logs, do you see something unusual?

Nothing unusual in the Zigbee logs. I'm hoping it doesn't happen again.

I'm wondering about the fast flash ("abnormal connection with the gateway"). I presume the device is expecting some specific message from the hub.

I expect mine to arrive in a week from now, I can test it with both C-7 and C-8 hubs.

It happened again. At least the radio restarts.

If it keeps happening I will remove the device to see if that makes a difference. This is the first new Zigbee device on my (other very stable) mesh in months.

It's also nice to know this rule works:

It's now happened 4 times. I'm going remove the device (for now) to see if the Zigbee restarts stop.

Nothing at all interesting in the Zigbee logs (I had them open during the last restart):

(the tooltip on "dev:" says "device 0000"... I guess the hub).

That's my understanding.

Bummer if the device is causing the hub issues. I've been working through "good reasons" to get a few of these even though I don't really need them.

I am excited about this. I just got one of the Tuya WiFi ones, which is crashes the firmware running on the radio in my router every time i try to connect it. I could use a couple of these, but the estimated shipping timelone would put it arriving while i am out of town.

One of my planned uses is for a usb powered radio scanner. I turn it on when there is a fire in my area to keep tabs on things, and i want to use one to make sure it turns off when I go to sleep.

I've not had a Zigbee radio restart since I removed it 21 hours ago. :sob:

I'll wait a day or two and then try it again.

Uh oh...starting to look like a guilty party, at least from your experience.

I received three of the zigbee version late last week. I haven’t tried them yet. Hopefully tomorrow. I will be using them on a C7 as well.

I added one of the ZBMicros to my C7
Like @jlv mentioned, the Network LED Indicator continues to 'Fast Flash'
And 9 minutes after including the device I got my first Zibee radio offline followed by Zigbee radio online.
