I did. Nothing happened. Which, considering the normal design of an optocoupler, was a bit odd. I think it all boils down to the fact that they actually over engineered this a bit. Helps make sure it only does what it is designed for, nothing else... But at the same time it does not do what it was designed for in the simplest possible method.
