[DEPRECATED] Universal Ecobee Suite, Version 1.8.01

Forgive the noob question, but in this README, there is the comment, " * IMPORTANT NOTE: Ecobee Suite Helpers are NOT supported by this reflected device!".

Does that mean you can't connect the helper child app between hubs (duh), or does it mean you can't use the virtual ecobee thermostat in a helper app?

I'm trying to do the latter and having problems.

That’s what it means…most all API calls into the thermostat device require the assistance of their parent Ecobee Suite Manager, which can’t be running on the reflected Hub…

I am trying to create a sliding mode set point adjustment based on the external temperature ranges in my area. See image for an idea of what I'm talking about:

Each of those rules should set different set points for home and away modes based on the specified ranges see below for example rule.

However these rules do not do anything they do run however as indicated by logs. See below:

Hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong here.

I’m not positive, but I think your Helpers are set to change the set points for the Home program, but your thermostat is currently in Hold: Away.

So currently the program sets the ecobee status to match hubitat away/home/sleep times which it did flawlessly and it's what you see reflected there. However the set points need to charge with the outside temperature ranges

Can you show me the Live Logging for the Helper that is configured for the current temperature range? The example posted is for temps in the 85-92 range, but the temperature is in the 73-78 range.

Also, have a look at the Live Logging for the Thermostat Device and for Ecobee Suite Manager at the same time - are there any errors being logged?

Set the Log Level to 4 to get more info about what’s going on in each of the above…

also no errors that I can find

OK, thanks.

I still can’t see what’s happening (not happening) - what is the Home set point supposed to be changed to when the temperature changes within the range of 72-84 degrees? (That part isn’t in the earlier screen shots).

Note that these are only going to change setpoints if they aren’t already the desired setpoints, so you won’t see a change every time the temperature changes within the 72-84 range.

Also not that this won’t mane ANY changes unless the Location Mode is either “Day” or “Evening.”

If this doesn’t explain the apparent issue, then please try running with the log-level set to 4 - the extra detail may help understand what’s going on.

Thanks!

I turned level 4 on after those shots. I will try to get more details but I do understand what your saying. The set point should change to 72 for home. And 74 when away. Then those set points will move up or down respectively with outside temp changes by a few degrees.

Actually I decided to check/reinstall/update the app first before continuing with troubleshooting. That said nothing changed. Lets start here. Why don't you show me how to set up a rule to change the ecobee set points based of external temperatures between a set range and let me see if I am doing things correctly. Please include step by step screenshots or video as the setup for the between temps setup seems very confusing for me.

I decided to try and create a helper for something more simple and this is what the logs show

Could you please do this for me:

  • open the helper
  • click on the gear icon at top
  • scroll down to the Application States section
  • check if there is an entry that says pendedUpdates - if so, copy/paste the content here so I can see it (or, DM it to me).

I sent this to you fyi

this issue has returned after update

not changing set points

The thermostat app doesn't update instantly - it can take several minutes...

Have a look at the actual thermostat and see if the change was effected there.

I tested this at home as well

So, back to the beginning - have a look to see if there are any errors reported for Ecobee Suite Manager app or the Thermostat device itself...

I checked the logs and do not see any errors reported. I did notice in my testing that the modes are changing. ie, Heat, Cool, Auto and those temps are being adjusted for those but the in beteween temps are not adjusting at all
