Cloud Backup confusion

On the "Registered Hubs" web site:
I have three hubs. With each I have a "Hub Protect active" notification. The cost is $29.99/year. With each hub I currently have cloud backup. Each hub, however, has an "Add Cloud Backup" button. Do I or do I not have full cloud backup, including the radios?

Yes, you do.

The new "Cloud Backup" service that we recently added is a strip down version of Hub Protect for those who don't need the extended warranty benefits offered by the Hub Protect. It is offered at $19.99 per year and comes with unlimited storage for up to 10 cloud backups for one hub. This is currently a pilot run, the official launch is scheduled for next week.

The service can be used as stand alone, or supplementary to the Hub Protect for additional backup storage.

Would it be possible to somehow not display the "Add Cloud Backup" option on hub accounts that have an active Protect subscription?

Unless I'm missing some advantage to having both - is there one?

I agree that this is a bit confusing to see here like this...

You can save up to 15 cloud backups when subscribing to both (Hub Protect has up to 5, Cloud Backup has up to 10).

Ah, very nice - I apologize if that's already spelled out somewhere, I confess I didn't dig around anywhere first. Thanks!

Maybe change the label to "Add more cloud backups" if already subscribed to Hub Protect?

That sounds clearer/better.

I think something along those lines would be very helpful!

Otherwise, I can easily see many people's reaction to this screen as "Wait, now I have to pay more to get Cloud backups - those aren't part of Protect anymore??"

So if it was clearer here that CB gives you a significantly deeper bench of backups, I think that would yield more positve responses :sunglasses:

Thanks much for the clarification. I am quite content with the Hub Protect. It gives me a warm feeling with each power outage. :):

Hi @bobbyD -- can you please clarify the # of backups that "Cloud Backup" alone gives access to (5 or 10)?

Cloud Backup's "Learn more" info on the Subscriptions page says 5 (and that likely makes the most sense to avoid cannibalizing Protect sales; I admit that I'd definitely consider "downgrading" to Cloud if it's indeed 10 backups)...

ETA - now I just realized that the blurb shown in the screenshot starts with "Hub Protect stores up to 5...", so then I'm wondering if there's a copy/paste error and maybe there really are 10 backups with CB?

Thanks!

@bobbyD Agree wish Hub Protect had 10 too. Maybe offer a Hub Protect Pro subscription? One that includes 15

Typo on the more info. Will get it corrected. Cloud Backup gives you up to 10 backups.

I'd like to downgrade to Cloud, now if at all possible.
Not sure how.
I'm paid up 'til March '26 for Protect.
Can I, or do I have to wait 'til '26?
I think it auto renewed this past March.
Should I maybe delete the card so I'll have the chance to change in March '26.
Thanks.

No need to delete the method of payment. If you cancel the subscription now, will remain in "Pending Cancelation" until the current term expires. When it does, you'll be able to change the product. Once in "Pending Cancelation" the service will not renew.

Will I get a notification that my Protect coverage is ending at that point so I can start up the Cloud option?
Thanks.

Yes, you will get an email that the subscription was canceled.

Pardon again @bobbyD, but one more question please... It seems that you cannot stack Cloud Backups onto either Protect or Remote Admin -- is that intentional?

Here's my (in-use) 8-Pro with Protect:

But here's my (offline) backup C8 with no active subs:

Thanks!

Not intentional, it's a bug. Thanks for bringing it up.
