Two years after.
I was at a candlepin bowling alley last year. The lane scoreboard systems were all running software from the early 90s, on DOS.
Wow ... Crazy how the computers are all sitting there in the open on the lockers.
Those are the ones waiting for recycle to show up to collect them.
This is literally a big annoyance when I rent a car and get one that has a push start. When I park I get out and the damn car starts beeping at me (because I left it on, and didn't push the button to turn it off). If it can do that, why tf doesn't it just turn itself off when I get out?
Our cars operate in that you get in and press the brake to turn it on, and then the accelerator to drive. When you park (*), you just open the door and get out and the car automatically turns off.
(*) when you press the brake for 1s after parking, the car automatically holds the brake on, so it doesn't move.
This is a really great driving UI innovation. Getting into cars that don't work this way just seems so 20th century.
I drive a 2005 F150 Lariat....lol
2003 Chevy Express. Been a great vehicle.
I got a brand new engine straight from detroit 3 years ago. 5 year 100k warranty... Yeah I'll be using this truck for a while...
I find that when things get to helpful they risk becoming worse than useless. Why? Because the helpfulness gets in the way of what I want or need to do. Auto parking brake. Aside from what if the user does not need or want it on? But it needs power to disable it. That happens if the battery is dead and the car needs to be pushed? Same with automatic transmissions. They are always in the last gear I was using so are always lagging. But my manual car is always in the gear I am about to need.
Still on original drivetrain (5.3 liter) at 225,000 miles.
This will probably be the last year though as my father-in-law is ready to part with his 2008 Chevy 2500 HD with a 6.0 liter and 100,000 miles.
Mine died at 185k because the phasers died... Typical of the ford 5.3...
Mine is the same - never have to worry about starting or stopping it. That is an awesome feature! Also donβt need to lock the doors since it locks/unlocks automatically with phone presence. Only issue is if the phone is left in the carβ¦

My car is plug and play, or rather plug in and unplug and play
